Heal Thrive Dream is a Mother Daughter Company specializing in holistic coaching, creative- affirming workshops, and products meant to inspire. We donate 5% of our proceeds to a charity rescuing women and children from sex and labor trafficking.
Karen is a licensed clinical social worker in the State of Virginia and has 22+ years of experience. Her expertise includes working with patients post suicide attempts, trauma survivors (combat and/or interpersonal trauma), and in cognitive behavioral as well as solution focused therapy. Karen recently started a new company with her daughters, “Heal Thrive Dream, LLC” to create a higher-level impact for trauma survivors globally. Her daughters help design journals, edit blog posts, assist with photography, and social media. Karen provides coaching and counseling services to primarily trauma survivors. The company is currently in its infancy.
Karen earned both her Bachelor’s (1996) and Master’s (1998) Degrees in Clinical Social Work at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine. She served in community mental health in Washington, DC; as a school social worker; adoption services (primarily home studies); personal therapist, and a federal government social worker (16 years).
Karen’s home of origin is Northern Maine, but she also grew up in Rowena, New Brunswick, Canada. Karen is a trauma survivor and thus has both the personal and professional experience needed to build authentic, genuine, connections with clients during the hardest times in their lives. I know it can feel like another day of the week for those of you isolated in your homes going stir crazy waiting for the pandemic to end. Things that help remember that I’m wearing PPE, (Personal Protective Equipment), I’m making a difference to my patients who are struggling with serious mental health issues, I’m having social interactions with other providers who are also working, and there are less technical issues at work than at home. I’m not stating that it’s bad to make your bed as I know there is “research” that people feel better, more productive if they start their day this way. Deciding to work on self-growth and improvement will help in all aspects of your life, including school, work and relationships.
For today’s blog, I thought it would be fun to discuss an activity called list making in your journals. Philanthropy – give as generously as you can What’s coming up next: Heal Thrive Dream, Inc. will soon have a book review section and a letter area where you can submit your questions, kinda like Dear Abby style, except it will be called Dear Karen. If you have a question or issue that you would like to post to “Dear Karen”, please email it to Karen@healthrivedream.com Also, until I can figure out all the bells and whistles of blogging life, please send an email to Karen@healthrivedream.com if you would like me to directly email you my blog post each week.
Membership includes study halls, prayer and study workshops, paper crafts, and a new bible study each month. Transformational Coaching makes CBT more powerful since it emphasizes energy and cognitions as we work on first visioning and then creating a life we would love to live. Consider starting a bedtime routine two hours before bed where you get your clothes ready for the next morning, your lunch packed, all of your work items ready by the door, make some tea and take a warm bubble bath before reading and then meditating to ease into sleep. If you have small children, I know your routine will be different, but routine also helps young children to know what to expect each evening.
