As if pledging allegiance to a single human being, a non-elected monarch at that, wasn’t enough, to become a British citizen I also had to pledge allegiance to Charles. It’s cute that the British monarch, her successors, and her heirs have a role in supporting tourism in the country. So many people coming to this country have fled or decided to leave another country behind where they may have resisted their whole lives pledging their allegiance to a monarch or ruler. I’ve travelled to many parts of it, I paid a visit to Westminster and took the tour to learn more about parliament and the House of Lords, and I’ve watched countless documentaries and read books on or related to the country’s history.
I don’t know where to start. But I’m afraid this is going to be a messed up, emotional blog post
He asked me towards the end of November if I’d like to walk the West Highland Way over Christmas. The route description I had taken with us had specifically mentioned that this was the West Highland Way’s toughest section and that people are often taken aback by how difficult it is. The one real downside to walking the West Highland Way at the end of December was that the days were so short. I think that if we had done the walk in the summer, we wouldn’t have felt under pressure to walk as fast as we could with as few stops as possible in order to get as much done of each day
It’s not a good way to start a day. It feels like I have a million gray hairs standing on end on my head, as if some sort of static interference has taken over, my brain is on high alert, and my stomach is churning and ready to throw up all of its contents at a moment’s notice. I’m working very hard to go back to living in the moment and not worrying about the task that needs to get done tomorrow. I’m working very hard to focus on doing what I actually can do to make life better rather than focusing on the things that I can’t.
