I'm Alouise and I run Take Me to the World, a travel blog with a focus on the performing arts. I'm from Edmonton, Canada and spent two years living and working in Dublin, Ireland. I am a writer, and a travel enthusiast. I love to share my love of travel and theatre, and encourage others to see some of the world and maybe a show or two. The travel on my blog focuses a lot on solo trips and friend/group trips. I also run a the Take Me To The World Musical Theatre Podcast, where I discuss specific shows and others topics in musical theatre.
This is from 2014
Last night went to the street performers festival with a friend. The weather was nice, we got to see some fun shows, and I had my first green onion cake of the summer (iykyk). @edmontonstreetfest runs from July 7 to 16. Definitely check it out if you're in the area. #yegstreetfest #streetfest #streetperformer #circus #festival #edmonton
Last week I wrote about some of the paid attractions to visit in north Dublin (still centrally located). Now, here's a post about some of the paid attractions to visit in south Dublin, including this historic site. Check out the post by visiting the link in my bio. #dublin #ireland #ireland🍀#travel
It's almost St. Patrick's Day, which always has me thinking of Ireland and my almost 2 years there. So I wrote a post about some of the paid attractions I visited on the north side of Dublin (north of the river, but still fairly central). Link in bio if you want to read it. #dublin #ireland #ireland🍀#travel
TW death, loss, grief. Some of you may already know this, but others may not. My friend Amanda, someone I've known for 33 years, passed away suddenly on Monday. It's been a hard few days. I'm very grateful for all the love and support I've gotten from so many people (a small silver lining on this immense cloud of grief). I’m feeling all these painful emotions and I hate it so much, but I also know I got to feel all these stupid, painful feelings to process everything. Grief isn’t a journey that’s the same for everyone, with the same steps in the same order where every grieving person comes to the same destination at the end. I don’t think there are right or wrong ways to grieve, but I do believe there are healthy and unhealthy ways to grieve. Since I’m writer I’ve been writing a lot to help me work through some of this awfulness. If you want to read my post my about my friend and these past few days of hell check the link in my bio.
So far I’ve listened to the first four albums (David Bowie [aka Space Oddity], The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Station to Station, and Low) on my list. I don’t know what to make of this because I can’t imagine David Bowie listening to The Carpenters, but There Bowie played the character on stage, they were mentioned in a song (like how Thin White Duke is mentioned in “Station to Station”), or were a major part of the concept for the album (Ziggy Stardust is probably the most obvious example). He did several songs for the soundtrack, but it wasn’t a full Bowie album, and I don’t believe he played Jareth the Goblin King in concert.
