Blog Tour: Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer [Review]

In this young adult contemporary romance, a girl is suddenly gifted with the ability to cast instant karma on those around her—both good and bad. Pru giddily makes use of the power, punishing everyone from public vandals to karaoke hecklers, but there is one person on whom her powers consistently backfire: Quint Erickson, her slacker of a lab partner and all-around mortal enemy. I’ve read a couple of Marissa Meyer books and I’ve been so in love with them Marissa Meyer is the #1 New York Times–bestselling author of The Lunar Chronicles series, the New York Time–bestselling Renegades trilogy, as well as the graphic novels Wires and Nerve:

[Review] Horrid by Katrina Leno

Following her father’s death, Jane North-Robinson and her mom move from sunny California to the dreary, dilapidated old house in Maine where her mother grew up. As the cold New England autumn arrives, and Jane settles in to her new home, she finds solace in old books and memories of her dad. When I was reading this book, I can totally imagine what Jane is seeing and this just makes me insane too. At the start of the book, there is a poem and then the author didn’t include chapters on it

Blog Tour: Vampires of Portlandia by Jason Tanamor [Review]

When Marcella Leones relocates her family of aswang vampires from the Philippines to Portland, Oregon, she raises her grandchildren under strict rules so humans will not expose them. The author mixed up our viscera (manananggal), vampires, ghouls, witches and beasts in one place that I couldn’t imagine. The author brought our culture to a new level and this is by far the UNIQUE world building that I’ve ever read. I love how the author drives the past and present situations of the characters because that way, the readers could understand the backstory of aswangs and relating to the current situation of the present characters really helps to broaden their knowledge about it.

[Review] None Shall Sleep by Ellie Marney

In 1982, two teenagers — serial killer survivor Emma Lewis and US Marshal candidate Travis Bell — are recruited by the FBI to interview convicted juvenile killers and provide insight and advice on cold cases. The story is already captivating, two teenagers – one a serial killer survivor and one US marshall candidate – are recruited by FBI to do interviews for serial killers to provide insights and advice for cold cases. I love that it was set in that time because whenever I watched or listened to podcasts about serial killers, it mostly boomed at that time which is so perfect. her debut, Every Breath, was shortlisted for the Gold Inky Award, the Ned Kelly Award and the Sisters in Crime Davitt Award (YA), and in 2015 was named by the Australian Library Information Association as one of the top ten most-borrowed YA books in Australian libraries.
