Cruising During the Coronavirus Pandemic

The Novel Coronavirus, Covid-19, was beginning to spread worldwide just as we began a 2 week Panama Canal Cruise from New Orleans to San Diego on the Disney Wonder. Leaving New Orleans, we spent one day at sea followed by port days in Cozumel, Mexico and on Grand Cayman Island. As we had feared, at lunch the day prior to Puerto Vallarta, the captain announced that our cruise would make no more stops and would arrive in San Diego a day early to protect passengers and crew from the coronavirus. Cruising during the Coronavirus Pandemic turned to the Disney Panama Canal Cruise into 11 consecutive sea days.

Cruise Port Cartagena, Colombia Phototour

The Disney Panama Canal Cruise provided us our first glimpse of South America, the beautiful port of Cartagena, Colombia. After sailing past these impressive and well preserved forts, we passed colorful fishing villages lining the shore of Isla de Tierra Bomba on the port side Passing around the side of the island, we caught view of the modern city at Bocagrande. After leaving Old Town, we made a brief stop at Las Bovedas, home to crafts and gifts located in dungeons and vaults from the 1700s. Our last stop was for a photo of Fort San Felipe de Barajas, an impressive example of Spanish military architecture

Teens and Adults Enjoy Disney Cruises, Too

On the Magic and Wonder, it is called the Wide World of Sports Deck; on the Fantasy and Dream, Goofy’s Sports Deck. Afterhours (Magic and Wonder), The District (Dream), and Europa (Fantasy) actually welcome all ages before 9 p.m. (except for special activities like bourbon tastings of coarse). Almost all activities listed in the “Adult” section on the Daily Navigator are open to teens and families during the day. On each ship, you will find a sports bar in the Adults only entertainment section: Crown & Fin (Wonder), O’Gills (Magic and Fantasy), and Pub 687 (Dream).

Big Bus Miami Tour Review

Two other families and I from the Disney Magic scheduled the Big Bus Miami Tour for disembarkation day from our Marvel Day at Sea cruise. Fortunately for me, the pleasant tour guide heard our exchange and told me that I could easily use the public trains to get to the airport for $2.25. * Cruise passengers should not book the Big Bus Miami Tour from the cruise line. If you are staying in downtown Miami or need to get to the airport after your Big Bus Miami Tour, forget the taxi, shuttle (unless it’s free!), or ride share.
