This not only saves you money because you shop minimally, it also gives you a feeling of gratitude and pride in what you’ve already invested in. It gives appreciation and respect for the items you’ve chosen to bring into your home and occupy space in your closet. I think a sustainable wardrobe matters and I challenge you to try a Capsule Wardrobe this year. You step inside and look up at your perfectly planned outfit, complete with accessories, you smile as you put it on and stand in from of the mirror as you admire your style. You promise yourself that it will, you continue to plan your outfits ahead, to save time, eliminate stress and to look avant-garde no matter what life brings you. Focus one outfit planning all aspects from the foundation of one key item (can be a top, pants, skirt, dress, anything) build around that item until you have a full outfit (don’t forget accessories: shoes, a handbag, a belt, a hat and jewellery). If you’re bold enough to wear something that no one else is wearing and wear it with confidence, you’re a trendsetter.

We would beg to differ on this point because we believe that Outfit Planning (via Weekly Capsule Wardrobes) actually saves you time. To inject some pattern, we paired with our fav block-heel, leopard print boots, a black & gold Tory Burch crossbody and a bold red lip. Accessories were minimal; a pair of white shades, Michael Kors watch, Tiffany & Co. bracelet and a gold chain from Value Village. Another point to focus on is to ensure that you stick to a colour palette of mostly neutrals with small pops of colour and a bit of pattern and texture thrown into the mix.

What I remember most vividly is the first time I saw the brand; it was a t-shirt worn by Katie of YOW City Style, a top Ottawa Fashion Influencer. Megan just might be the hardest working woman in Ottawa because while managing a full time job, she has built her side hustle from sparkly holiday tees sold online to opening her very own boutique in Ottawa’s Byward Market offering tees, tanks, sweaters swimsuits, accessories and skincare. Hours of operation are Thursday and Friday from 6:00 – 9:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 – 6:00 PM and Sunday 11:00 – 5:00 PM in case you want to check out the merchandise in person.
