San Diego’s Balboa Park is home to the famous San Diego Zoo, voted the #1 zoo in the world. Before you leave, make sure to drive through La Jolla to see San Diego’s sea lions in their natural habitat as you head North. The PCH will take you through several beach towns, including Laguna Beach, where you can take photos at the iconic Laguna Beach Lifeguard Tower. If you don’t have time for a full Disney park experience, you can stop at Downtown Disney to pick up a pair of Mickey ears at one of the giftshops, and enjoy dinner with a great view of the nightly fireworks.

Your base layer is very important and is the best way to ensure that you’re going to be warm on the slopes. Even if you’re skiing with a helmet try to keep a hat tucked away in one of the pockets of your ski jackets so that when you take a break from the slopes you’ll have a way to keep your head and ears protected from the cold. Keeping your hands warm is essential when skiing and the key is to buy the right pair of gloves for a ski trip! I also pack extra socks and base layers because they will sometimes change a couple of times a day especially if we take a break at the resorts or cabin before going back out on the slopes again.

Walt Disney World is the world’s largest and most popular amusement park for family vacations. Especially with young kids who have shorter attention spans, try to make plans several months in advance rather than days in advance so you can maximize your time at one (or multiple) parks during your Walt Disney World vacation. If you’re planning to break up your days at the park with some time just relaxing at the hotel or resort (highly recommended) plan these “off” days during the weekend when the parks are the busiest.
