Home and Garden Website Renovating a 1906 Farmhouse British trained interior designer Specializing in vintage elegance on a dime
The farmhouse dining room is ready for guests! Come on over, we love having people visit, especially if you share our love for old homes. And this time, it’s not just a tour, but a Spring Dining Room Tour! Technically, this room is more of what you might call a fireside room
Once I get my porch set up for each new season, I move on to the living room to give it some new life. My zones/ focal points in this room are the piano (you might have a mantle instead), the dresser in the back corner and the coffee table. The dresser, affectionately referred to as the “Lego dresser” because this is were my son’s legos are stored, became a staging point for a faux spring picnic set up. The faux hydrangea is from Ikea, the As For Me and My House is from a past tutorial and the Fresh Flower sign was a gift.
But, this spring its out of sight around the corner, making room for a collection of garden inspired decor I can’t wait to show you. My porch is really uneven, so my row of wooden, folding chairs from IKEA looks a little wonky, but I’ve made peace with it until we can afford to redo the porch. To soften everything up a bit, I brought out a couple of throw pillows, some faux ferns in galvanized pails from Michaels and some faux roses from IKEA. DECOR TIP- I always think of my trays are potential wall decor and this one is shows a scene of Victorian mamas having a play date with their littles
IKEA curtains are a great place to start and with a couple decor hacks you can customize them with some vintage flair. I soaked each panel in OxyClean White Revive for two days before it was the white I wanted. After many days of experimenting, I still soaked curtains for ten more days. If you don’t want to sew or don’t know how, here are some similar curtains.
