Here in the DC area, we’re warming up, thankfully, and despite it being rainy and gloomy today, I’m so grateful there are warmer days ahead. I’m loving life as a mama-of-two, though it’s definitely been a fun adjustment. Will is taking to life as a big brother swimmingly (though, funnily enough, swim lessons are QUITE the battle around here), and I’ve been able to transition back to working outside the home pretty well. Thomas will be seven months old very soon, and I know our days of limited baby mobility (and the ease of life that brings) are coming to a close soon.
Osso Good Bone Broths and Paleo Soups: Bone broth and brothy soups have become one of my first lines of defense when I’m in a flare and can’t keep down much that is solid. Protein drinks: I haven’t found a favorite for these yet, but in addition to bone broth, on bad liquid diet days I’ll do gluten free, lactose/dairy free protein shakes. A strict diet: I have tried a number of strict diets, and it’s always hard for me to stay on them because it never feels like they’re helping, and it’s a hard mental block to get over: to give up so many things and feel like you’re not getting better. I was gluten free for my last few years of college and it actually seemed to help a lot, but I started eating gluten again in college.
Jujube won’t be doing a nature preschool because such a thing doesn’t exist in Michigan within walking distance like this one But I’ll be hoping to take her and her little brother for walks in the little patch of forest right outside the school and do our own nature education. I also thought it was funny that the article mentioned Hike it Baby because that’s a meetup site I ended up joining to meet people and get my kids out there. So we can keep giving both our kids outdoor experiences knowing that it has an impact even if it’s one they can’t remember.
I take Snowy to Easter church services, as well as other Church services, and read her the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection in an age appropriate way, and we also do egg hunts, the Easter Bunny, etc. She doesn’t have one from the newest line that has fabric hair instead of plastic, so I picked it up as her main Easter item. Giant Unicorn Easter Egg: I picked mine up at Kroger and can’t find it online, but here is a cool personalized one on Etsy. We’ve gotten her a few Easter baskets over the years, my husband still has his old ones, and she’s also gotten some as gifts.
