Of course, enjoying your summer doesn’t mean abandoning your blog (we can have a blog and a life too! ), but it requires a different approach to managing your blog during summer. Different bloggers approach summer in different ways, so today I am going to share some ideas for you to consider. Last year, my month off looked like 0 blog posts, 1 newsletter, and an occasional social media post when I thought of something great to share. Even if you don’t feel like you need a break, I believe we all need seasons to move slower.
Passion is what leads us to walk in these goods works—to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God (Micah 6:8). Oh God, create in me a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me (Psalm 51:10). Heavenly Father, remove my heart of stone and give me a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 36:26), one that burns with the passion to seek you and do your will. But God promises, “Call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
And when I say we, I really mean I, because let’s be honest, a two-year-old isn’t much help when it comes to putting toys away. The process is slow, but I am learning to be like Mary instead of Martha—to dedicate my life to God, instead of stressing over a clean house. For scripture tells us: “By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches” (Proverbs 24:3-4 NKJV). Meditating on them renews my mind whenever I start believing achievement builds my house, cleanliness establishes it, and cute, Pinterest worthy décor should fill the rooms.
Staying separate from this world is difficult when we gratify our flesh with the fruit of the world. We feel more spiritually healthy and are able to resist the things of the world easier. We will always face temptation, but when we make crucifying our flesh a daily practice, we will be strong enough to resist the things that entice us. But by being intentional in these things—living as a new creation, renewing our minds, feeding ourselves good fruit, crucifying our flesh, and forming godly habits around spiritual disciplines—we are able to guard ourselves against the world.
