A few weeks ago I was itching to get in the car and have a day away, so, called up my sister and we headed off to the infamous dump stores. It is always so great to just get out of the house (especially when you’ve been couped up all winter!) and hit the road in search of treasures
It has been a little while since I’ve had time to paint and it has been so nice to get back to it the past couple of weeks. Just one of the many reason I find paint so powerful… random pieces that looked nothing alike now look like they came and belong together. However, once they received a little paint and are highlighted differently, what mermaid loving child wouldn’t love them? ! The thinned out paint has a transparent look to it and feels like a beautiful water colour.
Did you catch the post a couple of weeks ago on the old window I found at the dump? They weather well when painted so are perfect for an outdoor space to not only add a pop of colour but create some privacy if needed as well. To transform the window I found, I gave it a good scrubbing with soap and water and then lightened up the frame with some Country Chic paint in Simplicity. I love how the paint allows the light to still come through yet adds a hint of privacy and the colours look different depending on the time of day.
At the end of the summer last year, while on vacation, I took a day trip with my mom to The Opinicon. The Opinicon is a historic resort that was built-in the late 1870s on the banks of Opinicon Lake in eastern Ontario. Places like The Opinicon truly speak to my soul. Whether it was the nostalgia of being in a place where I could feel the history around me or the familiarity of the yellow and green paint, either way, The Opinicon is a place I will be returning to soon!
