I’m going to need you to stop what you’re doing and before you go about your day take a long hard look in the mirror and give yourself a compliment! And then I’m gonna need you to do that on the daily! You’d be surprised how much of a difference it makes. Im not saying your insecurities will suddenly disappear but make peace with the mirror and watch your reflection change I’ve been telling myself on the daily how good I look and I’m actually starting to believe it. You must go on adventures alone to find out where you belong ✨ In December 2018 I went on my first official solo trip, I say official because technically I worked in Magaluf in 2010. But despite not knowing anyone out there I met up with the people I’d prearranged to live with at the airport and so I didn’t really end up spending much time alone I love travelling and as much as I enjoy a trip away with my friends and family it can be hard to organise a group trip; choosing a destination everyone wants to visit, getting the same time off, working out budgets, etc. It can become quite a complicated feat to pull off But what really gave me that final push and inspired my leap into solo travel was my friend @char_x.o 🧡 I would message her to meet up only to find out she was off gallivanting around the world, experiencing new places, exploring different cultures, trying new dishes and just having the best time I could no longer sit back and listen to her stories and live vicariously through her. It was my time to see more of the world and so I booked that first trip and got bitten by the solo travel bug! I haven’t been on as many as I’d like thanks to ‘rona throwing a spanner in the works but rest assured they’re coming! Have you ever travelled solo? Be yourself; everyone else is already taken ✨ As there’s a few new faces around here I thought I’d do a little get to know me post by sharing five random facts about myself, and I’d love to know something about you so share in the comments 🧡 1. I love fancy dress and had a Disney themed 30th birthday party where I dressed as Ariel. My fancy dress highlight though was when I created an outfit from a twister mat and spinner 2. I’m a qualified holiday rep but never made it through the multi step application process. Instead I jumped on a plane and worked as a PR for a bar in Magaluf 3. I only learnt how to boil an egg in my early 20s but could cook a full roast dinner way before that point 4. I fainted during my first spray tan, bashed my lip and almost knocked myself out on a table 5. My favourite drinks are Prosecco, Pornstar Martinis or my own invention, the Glam Glitz Gloss. Mix Vodka, Tequila Rose, Krushems Strawberry and Milk for the dreamiest alcoholic milkshake. Don’t be afraid of change, it is leading you to a new beginning ✨ And so, I say my official goodbye to Glam Glitz Gloss as the final part of my rebrand has been completed. My new website is now up and running, and with a cheeky new makeover to boot. It’s quite a bittersweet moment actually as it feels like it’s practically been a part of my identity, for the longest time, but I also know this is the right move for me and it’s a step forward in the direction I want to go I’m really excited to finally a focus and plan when it comes to my website as there was a time, I thought about giving up altogether. Clearly, I was just feeling lost and needed some clarity in moving forward. Going on I will be centring my content around body acceptance, my personal challenge to attend all London bottomless brunches, and travel. I have to say a massive thank you to everyone that I interacted with at #Traverse21 in Palma. Whether it was a quick conversation, a day spent at an experience or even just getting drunk together, you can’t even imagine how much that trip meant to me. I was struggling mentally before that trip but being around so many passionate and unique content creators inspired me to not only relook at and reinvest in my passion, but it also helped me to get myself to a better headspace and mentality. The only time you should ever look back, is to see how far you’ve come ✨ A very late Happy New Year angels but I decided to take a full on break and with today being my first day back at work I figured it’s as good a time as any to make a comeback on Instagram too. Did you miss me 😜 2022 is going to be different, the past two years have made us grow in unexpected way through unprecedented times. I’m coming into this new year with my goals set, a clear vision on how to achieve them and a strong mindset to keep me focused. I haven’t been everywhere but it’s on my list ✨ As travel plans and the rules for flying take another hit I have decided to look at 2022 with my blinkers on. I’m imagining and manifesting a great year involving much travel and so I’ve started planning and thinking about where I want to go and when the best time of the year will be I’m not crazy enough to think that I’ll be able to rebook my multi city trip across Asia that is still pending from last year. For anyone who doesn’t know I was supposed to go to Dubai, Bali and Singapore on a three week bucket list solo trip. I think that one may still be a little tricky to deal with but I do have high hopes that I will leave the country at least once, if not twice as a minimum next year I am so beyond grateful that I was able to travel this year, having been to Palma last month for #Traverse21. It was my first time travelling outside UK since May 2019 and reminded me just how much I love the freedom and experiences of travelling. Next year I am planning to visit Hamburg, Brno and as yet an undecided third destination outside the UK. I’m also planning some staycations in Hull, Brighton and Newcastle. There’s no one face of grief, just because I’m smiling doesn’t mean I’m not grieving 💔 Today marks the end of grief awareness week and I just wanted to say that my DMs are always open for anyone that is struggling. I have lost some really important people in the last year and at times the thought of them leaves me feeling broken and sad, and at other times I’m filled with a sense of love remembering how lucky I was to have them in my life Grief doesn’t discriminate, we are all affected by loss and we all grief in our own ways. Check in on your friends and family that have lost someone, they may look okay but be struggling behind the scenes. There is no set time for grieving, you don’t just get over it or move on, you just move forward with your grief And please never be afraid to mention the people I’ve lost. Remembering them, talking about them, it gives me the chance to think about the good times with them and keep their memory alive. Aside from the odd Instagram shoot for friends I’ve barely picked up my camera in the past two years and for me it really showed. I managed to capture this shot thanks to @londonviewpoints’ Content Creation Walk I miss the buzz of finding the right angle, getting the settings just right and experimenting with new photography styles. Self reflection is scary, but necessary for growth ✨ It doesn’t look like I’ll be shutting up about Palma any time soon does it, sorry not sorry, but the week spent at #Traverse21 was a bit of a game changer for me. Not just with how I look at blogging and content creation and what I want to do going forward, but also with my inner self too. It’s crazy how one week can turn things around for you but I’m so grateful that this trip came at just the right time for me The past six months or so have been ladened down with health issues and struggles that I have not been very open about. I found myself caught in a vicious cycle of being so focused on them that I forgot to look for a way out or find the positives in life. I’m pretty good when it comes to giving advice, even if I do say so myself, but I’m not very good when it comes to being open, honest and dealing with my own shit. Legit to the point where it took me having a drink to open up to friends about what I’d been going through The week I spent in Palma was like the light at the end of the tunnel I didn’t know I was looking for. It could have been a week where I drowned my sorrows over everything that’s been happening. It could have been a week where I retreated into the shadows and secluded myself from the festivities and knowledge. But instead an inner strength burst through and I chose to live my best life and enjoy every moment of my trip.
