Even as a green thumb with tons of plants in my space, I love the little luxury of buying fresh flowers for an arrangement. Especially in small apartments, low arrangements are great for bringing in flowers without blocking sightlines. It is stone, and I love how the dark stone compliments light and airy flowers. Don’t be afraid to get a little funky with an asymmetrical arrangement, give one side a little height to make your arrangement look like it came from a chic boutique.

Since I started on my plant journey, a few years ago, I’ve loved plant shelves and they’ve played a big role in my home (tiny apartment) design. Now that I’m pretty settled in my place, I’ve started to focus on the smaller design elements like my plant shelf decor. But for right now, I’m thrilled with all of the elements I have on my plant shelves. If you place plants just for the look of it, without considering if they are right for the space, your plants likely won’t last.

I’m excited to share some of the design details that I’ll be using in my upcoming mini-remodel. I’m slowly working my way through this remodel with the help of a handyman who is doing the plumbing and tile work. Here’s a closer look at the materials I’ll be using in my kitchen. I use black to break up all of the warm tones I use and love.

I decided to go with the SVALNÄS system, a wall-mounted shelving system at Ikea to hold plants, books, and decor. For my unit, I used three base rods, cutting one shorter than the other two in order to create two lengths and allow my sofa to nestle in under the shelving. Based on the reviews I saw, it takes precision to line up the wall rods accurately and to ensure it lasts, I went with an expert. I’ve had so much fun styling my new shelves and am excited to keep my shelves This wall-mounted unit gives me more shelves without a ton of bulky furniture – perfect for my tiny apartment!
