I’m Stephanie Janes, and the goal of my blog, The Roving Fox, is to become one of the best travel blog websites in the industry, one post at a time.
I grew up in Delaware (the first state!), and attended the University of Delaware where I majored in vocal performance and minored in Strength and Conditioning (fitness). After that, I flew the coop and moved to Philadelphia where I obtained a Master’s in Arts Administration from Drexel University.
By day I’m an arts publicist over at Stephanie Janes PR, but my true passions are travel, food & wine, the arts, trying new things, and my cat Sophie. (I’m just excited to have a place to post about her now since my husband told me putting her photo on my business website was “unprofessional”).
I’ve spent time as a Spin instructor, yoga instructor, and personal trainer, and count fitness as one of my passions. I’ve scaled it back due to a hip injury, but love going to the gym at least 4x per week now.
My love of travel was sparked in 2008 during a trip to Bali. Since then, I’ve explored much of Europe, parts of South America, Southeast Asia, Australia, and of course the U. S. of A.
As a makeup and beauty junkie, I take seriously the art of finding the best products for one’s skin, hair, and nails, too. I will hunt down the best products to recommend and love sharing special finds.
I’m excited to document my travels, share tips on travel and beauty. I travel a lot for fun and work and will be trying to capture some of the unique experiences that happen along the way.
Travel guides and reviews are some things that I’ve always found valuable, and this lifestyle and travel blog website is full of reviews, guides, and tips.

On New Year’s Day we ventured down to the Senso-Ji Temple and the Asakusa Shrine. All I can say is “wow”. I’ve never seen architecture like it before, it was so vibrant and interesting to see. Many Japanese go to the shrine to pray on and around the new year to pray for their upcoming year. New Year’s Day was especially crowded (you can see the crowds in the first photo), but apparently it is pretty active all of the time. There was definitely a party vibe in the streets and areas right around the temple with games and food stalls. Ringing in the new year in Tokyo—probably one of me favorite places I’ve ever been. It’s so alive and filled with interesting food, culture, and things to do. We spent NYE2020 at @teamlab_borderless taking in the fun exhibitions. My favorites were this LED rainfall display and the flower animals in the halls. All of my cat cafe dreams are coming true!! We had a great time stopping at the Cat Cafe Mocha in Tokyo for some kitty love. You can even buy food to feed them (which I did, natch). You could also buy treats from a vending machine. The cafe is super clean and comes with unlimited free drinks like coffee or tea. before you go in you get slippers to wear and have to sanitize your hands. The cats love getting treats and attention, and it was a great way to spend about 30 mins ($12 per person). These sweeties love to lounge and get snacks. All are so friendly and sweet🐱. We arrived in Tokyo! Landed last night, crashed, and up early to do one day at Tokyo Disney Sea. After reading blogs and igs like @tdrexplorer, @disneytouristblog and @carlyewisel, we decided if we had just one day we should do Disney Sea. Top takeaways: ✅this park is massive on a level unknown to folks who have been to any of the other parks ✅one day was enough to see Disney Sea if you’re on a time crunch. ✅arrive early and get fast passes for the most popular rides right away. Soaring was sold out by 8:45am and we didn’t get to ride it, but other rides were fine to get fast passes throughout the day ✅check crowd calendars and buy tix in advance so you don’t risk the park selling out. Always have your ticket handy to scan for fast passes! ✅wow the lines for popcorn and snacks are huge. Make time just for that ✅the rides are unreal. Detail, size, scope, all incredible. Our faves: Indiana Jones and Journey to the Center of the Earth ✅ride Indiana Jones as a single rider. You will zip right through to the front! Do you have any Disney Sea tips? Salzburg was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Just look at this view! During the day, walk the cobblestone streets or take a “Sound of Music” tour. How about some Glühwein? This mulled wine is served all over Europe at Christmastime. I can’t speak for all cities, but in Munich a mug will set you back about €4. You also sometimes pay a deposit on the mug of €4 which you can get back after you return the mug, or you can just keep it as a souvenir!
