The angelic statues perfectly framing the centerpiece of the ice rink and the grand Christmas tree, needless to say, it was an amazing sight. We walked towards the ice rink, captured a couple of photos and our daughter was off to the races. We clung on to that wall as we braved our way around the rink a few times, each of us, trying to make sense of how to get ourselves moving forward without being propelled. It is a private park, a botanical garden with endemic plants to Madagascar that allows various types of lemurs to roam freely through out. The park boasts to have the following lemur species: the black and white ruffed lemurs, Coquerel’s sifaka, common brown lemurs, eastern lesser bamboo lemur, mongoose lemur, ring tailed lemur and crowned sifaka. As we progressed through the trail, he showed the different plants , including the perriwinkle and its medicinal uses to treat various types of cancer, endemic to Madagascar. The different lemur types were separated into different section based on their species type.
While there are quite a number of historic museums, landscapes and natural parks, we were only there for a short time and decided on a children’s park, Fairytale Town, Charles C. Jensen Botanical Garden and Effie Yeaw Nature Center. It is a non-profit children’s themed park that features 26 playsets, based on nursery rhymes and fairytales, several beautiful gardens and forests. It was awesome to see how they re-created the various stories, such as the barn with Charlotte’s web’s inscription, to the brick house with 3 live pigs roaming around. It was The 3 1/2 Acre garden was founded in 1958 by Charles C. Jensen.
Since we were only going to be there for a short time, we decided on a children’s park, Fairytale Town, Charles C. Jensen Botanical Garden and Effie Yeaw Nature Center. For our Sacramento family travel adventure, to maximize our time, there are a couple of places that we want to visit, and then we will build our itinerary around this. While it was ideal for our 8 and 11 year old, it took some time for our 13 year old to warm to the idea of being in Fairytale Town.
