I am a blogger over at The Walking Mermaid @thewalkingmermaidblog where I share my passion for the outdoors and family friendly travel. This guide to camping when pregnant will go perfect for any pregnancy that is not high risk. If you do have a high risk pregnancy, please consult with your doctor first and make sure they give you the okay to make the trip. Other women that I know who have gone camping while pregnant have chosen to sleep on the ground instead and just use a very comfortable pad. Remember to always take precautions, talk to your doctor, listen to your body, be prepared, and find a camping spot close to the bathrooms.
WHAT TO PACK IN YOUR C-SECTION HOSPITAL BAG Packing for your c-section hospital bag for recovery is very important. Unscented Salve or Eye Cream: I use this Unscented Salve from Bend Soap for my eyes before going to sleep to help feel more rejuvenated in the morning. Some of these will help keep you more comfortable during you c-section recovery while others will be to keep your spouse or support person comfortable during their stay at the hospital with you. Nursing pillow: I highly recommend the Boppy pillow but if you are having a c-section then I recommend using the hospital pillows and nursing in a football hold position to make things easier on your abdomen.
Some christian curriculums give you the option to buy the Bible class separately so don't get frustrated if you see a christian curriculum that you like and avoid it just cause of the christian aspect. In every class you will learn about a Christian lifestyle and even in some classes like Reading, Phonics, and English, your child will use the Bible to do their seat work and learn about the different stories in the Bible. I use the crate system with our Abeka curriculum and the book system with the Rod and Staff curriculum. As your child gets older I find that the book system works best but for younger kids it's easier for them to see a few sheets of paper and not feel overwhelmed by a big book.

Last week I decided to announce my pregnancy. WE HAVE A HUGE SECRET!!! 🤫 Little Isa is extremely excited to tell her secret to the world! She will be a BIG SISTER on September 2020. 🥳🎉 Not many people know this but for over two years we've been trying to have another baby. 2020 has been a whirlwind of emotions but it sure started with one good thing. On January 29th I got my first positive in over two years. I literally cried in disbelief.🤰 I can't wait to see what we are having in a next week. Praying for a boy but if not, a healthy baby either way. Let's talk about transitioning from public school to homeschooling. Since public schools have closed, many people have found themselves homeschooling. Many seem to be frustrated with the idea of homeschooling while others are absolutely loving it but it is not all bad. Many kids struggle with the transition. When I started homeschooling, Bella was in first grade. She had gone to public school for Kindergarten and a Christian Academy for Pre-K. I'm not going to sugar coat it. The first few weeks was not easy. There were days I wanted to quit and send her back to public school but I kept telling myself that it would be worth it in the end... and IT IS!!! Here are a few tips to help with the transition: • Have a schedule and stick to it. • Make it fun! Do hands on activities with your kids, arts and crafts, sing, or have school outside. Be creative and make it enjoyable for both you and your kids. • Start the day off right with a morning basket. We haven't done these in a while but they are fun to do. In our basket we have our devotion, coloring pages, books, activities, flashcards, and more. • Be patient. I know this is easier said than done. TRUST ME!!! I have definitely lost my patience with my kids. It happens but try your best to be patient and understanding. • Have a designated school area. This will put in their minds that when they are there it is school time! • Have breaks. If you see your child is frustrated let them take a small break from that class. Check out these adorable ceramic pots. 😍🌼🌷 Yesterday I shared a photo of the girls painting their pots so I figured I'd share the finished outcome today. It's hard to see a little since they're hugging them but they're so creative and cute. I had a few people ask me what items I used. My husband kind of threw the curve ball at me so I didn't have the right brushes but we used these items to paint them. • Ceramic Pots • Acrylic Paint (it'll hold better and last longer.) • Paint Brushes or Sponge Brushes • A cup of water to clean your brushes. • Cardboard to avoid messes. Not sure if it really worked though. lol • Rags to clean dirty fingers and messes. We also used glow in the dark paint and glitter acrylic paint. You can find these at Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and sometimes in Target. You can also order them online on Amazon or any of these stores to play at safe. Don't forget to disinfect the items upon arrival to make sure there is no spread of the virus during this time. How would you paint your pot? This weekend we decided to let the girls paint two pots and plant some flowers. 🖌🌺 They used all sorts of colors, even glitter paint and glow in the dark paint. Things got a little messy too but so totally worth it. Hoping to continue to do different activities to keep them entertained during this time since they can't play with other kids at the moment. This week we have been doing school but definitely taking it easy. On Tuesday my youngest, Isa, woke up with a sinus infection. Poor thing has been recovering from it and has almost lost her voice. It's so sad hearing her trying to sing and talk. We decided to give her a day off to rest. No fever or anything. Just to be safe we talked with her doctor to rule out the scary COVID-19 and all is good. 🙏 She is doing much better today. Still a sore throat but very happy and active. My oldest has been playing catch up on a few classes we fell behind on. Math, English, Phonics, and Reading are the ones we have been focusing on this week the most. Talking about classes. It has been so rainy here. I can truly say that I miss the sun and days at the park. ☀️☔ Last weekend we took advantage and went to some local parks. We practiced proper social distancing from everyone and I'm glad that others were too. Some would even walk another route just to avoid us. 🦠 It was truly heartbreaking not allowing the girls to play on the playground though. We just walked alongside the Cumberland River. They begged but were very understanding of the current situation at hand after we explained things to them. 💕 As things progress we are finding ourselves even more isolated. My husband is running any errands at the stores right now just to keep us safe and I couldn't be any more thankful for having him here. However, I do say a quick prayer every time he walks out that door that he stays safe during his time. 🙏 As for now, we are looking for some positivity in our day. I'm pulling out a notebook for each of the girls and will be using it to bring life to our days. I'm having them draw or paint something that made them smile today. It can be the flowers blooming outside, the buds on the trees, the birds flying, or even a ladybug or a caterpillar. LET'S CHANGE THINGS UP A BIT! Due to a lot of new current circumstances, my feed is going to be a little mix of lifestyle, homeschool, and outdoor travel (once we are FREE to roam again! 🤣). Today I want to share a picture of our first day of school for this school year. Back when our classroom wasn't a chaotic mess. 🤣 Most days we do our school in our pajamas. 🤷♀️ Sometimes the girls dress up in their favorite super hero costumes. 🦹♀️ And other days they get themselves dressed. I like to call these days tacky diva mix matched days. 🙈 They're still cute. Our main class focus for school is Math, Reading, English, Spelling, Phonics, and Handwriting. We also add classes like Geography, Science, Arts and Crafts, Nature Study, Health, and History but I don't push it every day if they already seem tired by the end of the day. We also change up some of our classes and do some fun activities instead. We all need a cheat day right. 🤷♀️ As we open up our homeschooling journey with you more, is there anything in particular that you want to learn more about? Curriculums that I use? Class supplements?
