Coronavirus or Not: 5 Packable Items to Keep You Healthy

Now they’ve got a fantastic Melatonin ($9.99) product that can help with those not-in-my-own-bed sleepless nights and jetlag hangovers too! This little USB compatible plug-in oil diffuser is not only compact enough for the smallest of carry-ons, but it’s also waterless! Whether it’s the Foot Glide to protect my feet, Outdoor to protect my bare shoulders from backpack rash or the original Body Glide for whatever, this lives in every one of my travel bags. It’s always good to have both on hand to cover your bases, but tests often prove that hand washing is superior to hand sanitizing.

Love is in the Cards: A Review of Hoodoo Love at Raven Theatre

A simple clothesline that connects the home of a preacher’s daughter, Toulou, and a Hoodoo practitioner, Candylady. In this story of love, music and magic, masterfully directed by Wardell Julius Clark, nothing feels simple. While there is literal magic on stage in scenes deserving their own rounds of applause, palpable magic is felt between Martasia Jones and Shariba Rivers as Toulou and Candylady, respectively. Candylady’s intermittent reminiscences of her days as a slave are an ever-present reminder that Hoodoo is largely a practice borne out of African religions coming together in the early 1800s.

A Feminist Defense of “Captain Marvel”

They’re laughing because they can see his daddy parts!” Captain Marvel is not the best superhero film I’ve ever seen—and believe me, I’ve seen them. White men are still overwhelmingly overrepresented in the genre, despite the fact that Black Panther was the best superhero film to date and Wonder Woman was the highest-grossing. , for instance, all of the MCU movies that Captain Marvel ranked higher than on Rotten Tomatoes when I was writing this piece: Thor, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 2, Thor: Captain Marvel has rated higher than every single DC Extended Universe film released to date, with one incredible exception: Wonder Woman.(The Nolan Batman franchise is not considered part of the DC Extended Universe, FYI.)

7 Gifts a Traveller Will Actually Love

Cindy Karen’s clothing line caught my attention right away with their “clothing for the jetsetter in all of us” mantra. It’s hard to look decent and be comfortable while traveling. Not only are these pants unbelievably comfortable, but they also look great with a trendy top or blazer! They also pass the easy to handwash in a sink test which is a good thing for any folks who spend more time living out of a suitcase than living out of their home.

Dementia Created a New Love Language for my Grandmother

You’re lucky you found a man who finds you attractive,” my grandmother said to me shortly after she first met Kyle, my then-boyfriend now husband. It was a challenging day for my aunts who cared for her, I think we all knew it would probably be our last big family function with her. I expressed my frustration at not being listened to or feeling like I’m not taken seriously because I’m a young woman, despite any training or experience I have. None of us really knew how much time we’d have with her and in typical fashion, for my family, the multitude of us gathered in many corners of that hospice facility.

  • REVIEW: The Girl on the Train – Theatre Royal, Glasgow

The Girl on the Train became a runaway best-seller around the globe, with a Hollywood movie adaptation following on its heels quickly a year later, albeit with a re-setting to New York instead of London. Binge drinking Rachel Watson passes her old house and her ex-husband and his new life (and wife and baby) every day as she commutes to work. Unlike the book and movie, the lion’s share of the action takes place in Rachel’s hovel of an apartment, it’s more The Girl in the Flat rather than The Girl on the Train but that said, the design by James Cotterill is clever enough to portray multiple locations including Megan and Scott’s and Tom and Anna’s homes, a police station, a psychiatrist’s office, the crime scene and the train itself. TV veteran Samantha Womack is Rachel, and delivers a well-measured, low-key performance, keeping it entirely within the bounds of believability in her portrayal of a woman on the brink.
