3 Mistakes Dog Parents Make That Can Get Their Dog Stolen: Pet Theft Awareness Day

It’s a scary concept to think about and I’m sure you just can’t imagine that you might be doing or have done something that puts your dog at risk from being stolen from you, but believe it or not, it’s true! Dogs are taken to be sold to unsuspecting people, laboratories in need of animals to do testing, dog fighting rings, or to scam the people they took the dog from to collect any monetary reward offered or for ransom. Purebred dogs are especially when they are still intact, are popular because they can be used for puppy mills or sold to illegal puppy More often than not, people aren’t really paying attention to who the owner of the dog is to begin with, so most aren’t going to think twice of someone approaching your dog and walking away with him or her. My property is surrounded by a tall rock wall, tall gates that are locked with a keys, and we have security cameras, and I still don’t let my dogs outside without me or my husband standing out there with them.

If your pup is not acting like their usual self, clearly sick, or injured, don’t hesitate or wait on taking your pup to the vet right away. If you wouldn’t drink water like that, why you would you make your dog drink yucky water?

Front Of The Pack and Best Friends Animal Society are working together to make every shelter in America no-kill by 2025, so that every dog gets the opportunity for a second chance. Together Front of the Pack & Best Friends Animal Society have already raised over $1000 since the beginning of December to help keep dogs like Safira safe until they find their forever home.

Letting Dogs Light the Way: Headlight Harness

In addition to amazing reflectors, Headlight Harness has a small but powerful LED light on the chest plate that illuminates the ground in front of your dog’s path, allowing you to see anything you may want to avoid stepping in or on. After a scary incident on a nightly stroll with her pup that led to him slipping out of the harness he was wearing and almost getting hit by a car after running away, Marilyn knew that she needed a dog product that keeps her dog safer when the sun goes down and something he couldn’t easily slip out of. Headlight Harness is available in four different colors (Orange, Pink, Blue, and Black) and have a wide range in sizes from X-Small (dogs up to 10 pounds) to XX-Large (dogs up to 200 pounds). Our Pug Mom stated that it was easier to keep track and locate her pup at the park when he’s off leash thanks to the chest light.

Introducing: Eight Feet on the Ground

It’s impossible to ignore the impact of humans on our warming world when standing on polluted shorelines of Latin America, watching tourists sip glacier melt from plastic water bottles on a retreating glacier, trying to find specks of color in bleached reefs, or gasping for fresh air in wildfire-stricken California. For research in my book project, I recently interviewed David Katz, CEO and founder of Plastic Bank, an organization that monetizes plastic as currency to feed, house and educate the planet’s most impoverished residents. In response to Kai’s question, David Katz told me to do the following (you should try it, really, take a minute and try it right now):
