We’ll layer the homemade chocolate mousse with graham cracker crumbs and top the whole parfait with homemade marshmallow cream, aka creamy sweet meringue. Temper: While constantly whisking, pour 1/4 cup warm cream into the egg yolks, then pour the egg yolk mixture into the remaining warm cream. I’ve taught you how to make marshmallow cream a few times before: Baked Brownie Alaska, S’mores Brownie Cupcakes, Chocolate Mousse Pie, and Ultimate Birthday Cupcakes.

    I had some MAJOR recipe testing fails last month, so this is the perfect opportunity for Latest Recipe Testing post #10. My latest recipe flops are all from one recipe: vertical cake. Vertical cake is the August Sally’s Baking Challenge and it was certainly a CHALLENGE (understatement of the year) for me to get this recipe right. It’s a delicious vanilla sponge cake that’s light enough to bend and roll, but sturdy enough to hold the delicate shape.

    Back in June, though, we crossed 2 items off the list with a weekend road trip to Ohio and a day trip to Hersheypark. As I was busy getting the house ready, one of my dear assistants, Hilari, baked several batches of cookies for the party including cake batter chocolate chip cookies (pictured above) and bakery-style peanut butter cookies. For the cake batter chocolate chip cookies, Hilari added a couple extra Tablespoons of flour and rolled the cookie dough balls with 1 Tablespoon of dough each.     Our Favorite Rice Krispie Treats Recipe

    Adding a little extra butter and marshmallow, plus a splash of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt makes all the difference. and I have a few tricks up my sleeve to guarantee that the treats are extra marshmallow-y, extra gooey, extra buttery, extra flavorful, and extra AWESOME. The best ratio for a 9×13 inch baking pan is 2 10-ounce bags of mini marshmallows (11 heaping cups) and 9 cups of cereal. I don’t need to convince you that rice krispie treats are delicious, but I hope you try these little extras (the vanilla, salt, ratio of marshmallow to cereal) the next time you need a recipe for these marshmallow squares.

    Jalapeño Pepper Jack Turkey Burgers

    If you’re craving big flavor, make these jalapeño pepper jack turkey burgers. These medium spicy burgers are bursting with flavor from cumin, smoked paprika, jalapeño pepper, garlic, cilantro, and pepper jack cheese and taste phenomenal hot off the grill. Ground turkey simply doesn’t contain the same flavor profile as ground beef, so it’s up to you to add extra flavor to the burgers. If you don’t like spicy or are sensitive to spice, leave out the jalapeño pepper and substitute cheddar cheese for the pepper jack cheese.

    This giant monster cookie is enormous and satisfies the biggest chocolate peanut butter craving. And don’t cheat by telling me you’ve made chocolate chip cookie pizza or chocolate chip cookie cake, both of which are meant for a crowd. A few weeks ago, I made peanut butter bars and chocolate chip cookie brownie bars for a dear friend’s baby shower. I came home, realized I didn’t meet my chocolate and peanut butter consumption needs for the day– as one does– and decided to make a giant monster cookie when settling down for a night of Netflix.

    Master Scones Recipe (Any Flavor!)

    Using my perfected master scone recipe, build your own scones with a variety of add-ins like chocolate chips, berries, or cheese and herbs. But the easiest way to avoid disaster is to use cold ingredients like cold heavy cream, egg, and butter. Cherry Chocolate Chip: Follow recipe below and add 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 3/4 cup chopped fresh or frozen cherries. Ham, Cheddar, & Scallion: Reduce sugar to 2 Tablespoons, leave out vanilla extract, and add 1 cup cooked cubed ham, 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, and a handful of chopped scallions.
