Swimming With Sharks In Hawaii (And Why You Should Try It)

However once you cast aside any preconceived notions about these animals, gather enough confidence to dive into shark infested waters, and meet a shark IRL, your outlook on them changes (to say the least). ’s eye is very similar to that of a human’s eye — with a cornea, lens, retina, pupil and iris (in fact, it’s so similar that the shark cornea has been used in human eye surgery). Not only are shark eyes structurally similar to humans, but evidence suggests that shark vision and processing may in fact be similar to human vision as well. A scared shark is a dangerous shark, so you have to stay calm and collected to avoid startling the SHARK (as counterintuitive as that may sound).

Hawaii Staycation with L'Oreal Lash Paradise Luggage

Although, I’m blessed to be spending these days in a place as beautiful as Hawaii, I’m still going a bit stir crazy without a vacation to look forward to. This past weekend I headed up to Holualoa, Hawaii for a mini staycation that was inspired by my L’Oreal Paris Lash Paradise Mascara! I had a great weekend up Mauka (which is Hawaiian for mountain) with my new L’Oreal Paris Lash Paradise inspired luggage, and you know I looked my best because I got all dressed up and was sure to use my Lash Paradise mascara as well. If you want to see how beauty and travel can make such a great combination, grab your own L’Oreal Paris Lash Paradise Mascara with Luggage tag at Walmart AND snag the matching luggage at Walmart here!

    30 Lessons I Learned By 30

I learned that these two topics are ones in which people will never be swayed, and therefore are best avoided at any dinner party, or social function (I would suggest you avoid posting about religious and political views on social media as well, but that’s just my opinion Big decisions are hard to make, but I’ve learned it’s often the small, seemingly insignificant decisions that can ultimately carry the same consequences. Leave the past in the past (don’t let it control your future).I’ve been around a lot of people who talk, very often, of all these bad things that happened to them in the past, and I know some people have had it much harder than others, but I’ve got news: shit happens to all of us.

Tips For Visiting Giethoorn: The Dutch Village Without Roads

visiting Amsterdam — or anywhere in the Netherlands — and need a relaxing escape from the city, traffic and cyclists, I highly recommend taking some time to visit this picturesque little village (even if you’re Not to mention accommodations are heavily discounted during the off-season (and don’t need to be booked nearly as far in advance). The highlight of my visit (and probably everyone’s visit) was renting a boat and exploring Giethoorn’s canals and lakes. This one is probably a given, but you can’t visit this canal-dominant village without exploring it’s various waterways. Pro Tip: Bring booze and snacks on your boat and enjoy a little floating picnic for an even more adorable / enjoyable experience (just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, add wine.)My second favorite experience in Giethoorn was renting bikes and exploring the paths and roads that surround the village.

Fuji Rock Music Festival: A Beginner’s Guide To Japan’s Largest Music Event

(Hallelujah!)No, I didn’t just describe an acid trip, but rather my first experience at Fuji Rock Music Festival (which, now that I think about it, is probably fairly similar).Located at the Naeba Ski Resort in the mountains of Niigata (a 2-hour drive from Tokyo), Fuji Rock Music Festival is a 3-day event featuring over 200 bands from all around the world. If you’re thinking about attending Fuji Rock, or simply curious about what a huge music festival in Japan is like, here’s the info I wish I’d had before attending; including what to wear to Fuji Rock, what to expect at a Japanese Music Festival, and how it differs from what Americans may be used to.(At Japan’s drug laws deter widespread drug use; most drinks sold at the festival are incredibly small/weak, and Fuji Rock “fashion” is centered around practicality (think hiking clothes).Rather, the music festival is about… music (gasp). So, essentially, I was watching thousands of Japanese music fans tough it out through the rain, wind, mud and cold to sing country music at the top of their lungs in a language they don’t even speak.

The Perfect Pairing: Brunch and Bubbles

You can easily sip it on its own all day long, and, thanks to its low levels of sugar, you won’t be fighting a sucrose-induced hangover tomorrow. If you do plan to whip up a pitcher of Mimosas, we suggest going 50-50 with Zonin Prosecco and fresh-squeezed orange juice. You can also try peach, guava, watermelon, cranberry, pomegranate, passion fruit, and just about any other fruit juice your heart desires. If you really want to add sparkle to your meal, try adding a drizzle of Zonin Prosecco to your pancake or waffle mix.

How To Choose The Best Island in Hawaii To Visit

Maui is perfect for: Honeymooners, resort-goers, beach lovers, upscale/luxury travelers, leisure travelers (Maui is more “outside-sy” than “outdoorsy” in terms of adventure), first-time visitors to Hawaii, and family vacationsBest known for its capital city (Honolulu) and bustling Waikiki, Oahu is a big city on an island. Oahu is best for: budget travel, Nightlife (and therefore bachelor/bachelorette parties, and similar celebrations), girls’ trip, shopping, dining/foodies, leisure travelers, first-time Hawaii visitors, family travel (thanks to the new Aulani Disney Resort)Kauai, in my opinion, is the most beautiful island in Hawaii. Most people who visit the Big Island choose to stay on the West side in Kona (ocean-front town with bars and restaurants that are walking distance from the two main hotels) or Waikoloa (resort-area).Some additional Pros and Cons of Visiting the Big Island (Island of Hawaii / Hawaii That said, a rental car here is absolutely required if you want to experience everything the island has to offerUnlike Waikiki or Maui, where there’s a white sandy beach next to your hotel, most beaches on the Big Island require you drive to them (unless you stay in Waikoloa). The Big Island is best for: Outdoor enthusiasts / adventure travelers, family travelers, slow travelers, history buffs, family travel, leisure travel

Hop Take: Constellation Closes Ballast Point Locations, Regrets Buying It for $1 Billion

Constellation kinda regrets dropping $1 billion on Ballast Point in 2015, and is more interested in investing in emerging categories like mezcal and cannabis. Ballast Point pioneered one of the country’s best beer cities; produced a world-famous line of IPAs; sold to a global alcohol conglomerate; and built new facilities in tourism-friendly places (even Disneyland! ). Two weeks ago, Constellation reported a $108 million impairment charge on the Ballast Point brand, “essentially admitting it overpaid” for the brewery, Brewbound reports. That said, if hazy IPA as an entry point to beer means people are choosing Firestone Walker 6-packs over Sol Cheladas, and right after Ritas, I have to root for it.

Txomin Etxaníz Getariako Txakolina 2017, Getaria, Spain

The winery and vineyards are located in Getaria, a small Basque coastal village in northern Spain. And the grape is the local Ondarrabi Zuri, grown in Txomin Etxaníz’s 148 acres of hillside vineyards that slope down to the Bay of Biscay. On first taste, the $20 wine gives you a tingling sensation in the mouth — partly because of its zesty citrus flavors and partly because there is a light effervescence that settles as it is exposed to air. The citrus, white peach, and red berry notes are framed by lively acidity and a long, slightly creamy finish that comes from aging on the lees (the solids of the grapes).
