Highlights
  • Exploring Taft Shoe Company

Fast forward to 2015, after a positive viral Reddit post Kory Stevens decided to take seize his opportunity and launch into the shoe business. The idea of selling directly to consumer was to craft a high-quality shoe at prices lower than what can be found in department stores or under designer labels for similar or lesser quality products. The shoes and boots have a certain flair whether it’s the unique patterns such as the cotton jacquard weave on my loafer that I styled in my previous post or the sleek buckle on a boot. As a fan of pattern mixing, the sleek minimalist style of boots was the ideal finishing touch when combined with plaid pants and a color-blocked sweater.

A casual look mixing high and low brands

I like the idea of mixing high and low brands in creating a fantastic style. On my latest trip to New York for New York Fashion Week, I opted for a fun casual look. Mixing high and low brands (the shirt was from Burberry and my coat, Zara), I came up with a great look that was perfect for the rainy New York Day and perfect to watch the runway fashions. |White casual shirt – Burberry |Plaid Pants – Scotch and Soda (my pants are sold out

    NYFW 2020: Runway Shows

When we think about New York Fashion Week or any Fashion Week in general, most people think about the familiar names most people have heard of. As part of the DCFashion Fool’s coverage from the last New York Fashion Week, we are showcasing some runways shows that may have not gotten the coverage as some of the bigger names but no less showed some beautiful fashion. Negris LeBrum launched their Sunset collection during New York Fashion Week (Fall Winter 2020) on Sunday September 9th, 2020. NYFWM Fall 2020: Grungy Gentleman

With the shows during New York Fashion Week Men’s dwindling at an alarming pace, one show that has stayed consistent during the week has been Grungy Gentleman. As the show started, he was spotted giving the models their cues and I wouldn’t put it past him if prior to the show he was backstage doing hair and makeup while adjusting final looks. This year’s collection featured leopard, southwest inspired wool and a custom created static fabric along with his signature 6 striped detailing that was interwoven throughout the entire collection. Also stand outs are the tailored looks which are designed to be worn more casually and come complete with the signature Grungy Gentleman stripe.
