Why don't More Cruise Ships Sail to Wales?

In Milford Haven and Pembroke port, Silversea’s Silver Cloud and Crystal Cruises Crystal Endeavor are both due to make stops in 2022. Cruise & Maritime Voyages used to offer turnaround cruises sailing from Cardiff during 2019 but sadly since the unfortunate demise of the line in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Marco Polo will no longer be calling at Cardiff. In Holyhead, which is a much larger deep-water port with 24-hour access and no locks you will find larger ships. With both a cruise jetty and an inner harbour, it can accommodate smaller ship as well as those up to 300m/100,00 tonnes as well as an anchorage point for ships in excess of this.

Alaska presents legislation to allow cruises

This month, Canada’s surprise decision to close their ports shocked Alaska’s communities, and has caused significant uncertainty for our small business owners and the broader tourism economy. But if cruises can safely proceed, and I believe they can, then we ought to be doing everything possible to alleviate the stress and anxiety of families whose livelihoods depend on tourists coming to Alaska to experience our great state,” said Congressman Don Young. I am very proud to introduce the Alaska Tourism Recovery Act to help provide relief and certainty to the communities that depend on a thriving tourism sector. By the time the 2021 cruise season typically starts, I am confident that we will be in a strong position to allow cruises to resume with proper safeguards in place.
