Highlights
  • Top Things Worth Spending Money on for Your Mountain Vacation

Not to mention that investing in a hard-shell case for your skiing and snowboarding equipment can make a dent in your budget, but it does protect your (more expensive) gear from getting damaged, allowing you to save more money in the long run. Instead, you want to get the best lodging location possible for the sights that you want to explore and the activities that you want to experience. Getting accommodations in the city center might be more expensive compared to other locations, but it can potentially save you from certain inconveniences (such as missing the last trip back to the city) and cumbersome transportation. Here’s a tip: Looking at the collaborative efforts of local businesses can help you plan a cheaper trip not just from getting accommodations but more discounted rates for activities and gear rentals by working with partnered companies.

  • Vail Resorts slashes pass prices by 20 percent

Reset lowers pass products to prices last seen in the 2015/16 season Vail Resorts is turning the clock back on its Epic Pass prices to reward loyal customers following a trying year. The reset takes Epic Pass products back to prices last seen during the 2015/16 season when Vail Resorts offered access to only 11 North American resorts. The new prices announced today not only provide value to existing skiers and riders, but we also believe they will contribute to the growth and vitality of our sport as we bring new people and higher engagement into the industry, which we think is imperative,” Katz said. • GoPro Mountain Games are ON; Athletes, art, music and mountain lifestyle event to return to Vail June 10-13, 2021

After a one-year hiatus, the event will feature whitewater, mountain biking, road biking, fishing, trail running, DockDogs, disc golf, yoga, a photo competition, three nights of GoPro Mountains of Music (livestreamed and limited in-person capacity) and more from Vail, Colorado, with a wide array of additional ways to engage virtually. Vail Valley Foundation organizers said they are going to take all the energy and excitement of the GoPro Mountain Games and concentrate it on core components of the event to ensure that both “pro and joe” athletes can get back to the water, trails, and competition after nearly a year of limited adventure sports competition opportunities. For those who may not be able to compete but want to connect and engage with the GoPro Mountain Games, the Vail Valley Foundation is raising the bar for this year’s event in several ways: Organizers said they recognize, even more than any other year, that this year’s event would not be possible without the support of the following partners: GoPro, Town of Vail, Vail Resorts, GMC, Go RVing, L. L.Bean, Nature Valley, Outside Magazine, YETI, Bosch, TIAA Bank, Pacifico, Mountain House, adidas Terrex, Tincup, Orijen, Lifestraw, Smartwool & JUNK Brands.

  • The Best Winter Activities for Non-Skiers in the Vail Valley

Vail’s Solaris Ice Rink allows visitors to enjoy skating in center of Vail village with its spectacular panoramic views of Vail ski mountain. And lastly, for a larger indoor ice rink in Vail, the Dobson Ice Arena is open year-round and features public skating, private lessons, hockey, bumper-cars, and special events such as concerts. Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is America’s only mountain-top theme park and western Colorado’s number one, must-see attraction. For cross-county skiing head to Vail Nordic Center and enjoy their 17 kilometers of daily-groomed skate and classic tracks or Beaver Creek’s McCoy Park which is accessed via The Strawberry Park Lift – Chair 12 and is considered to be one of Beaver Creek’s best kept secrets, featuring 32 kilometers of groomed trails.

    Monica Dimas’ Little-Known Favorites

The Fairmont Olympic Hotel and the Alexis Royal Sonesta Hotel are both centrally located, historic hotels that make for perfect starting points. In a city that has seen so much new development in recent years, it’s rare to stay at a luxury hotel built on the original site of the University of Washington (the Fairmont) or one that rose from the ashes of the Great Seattle Fire (the Alexis). For more hotels like The Fairmont Olympic, check out Hotel Theodore, Motif Seattle, or the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Seattle for more great options in the same neighborhood to use as your basecamp. Currently, serving as chef and founder of Milkwood & Company, a restaurant group that includes her three Capitol Hill eateries, Monica combines her talent for brand building with business development, resulting in thriving, inclusive spaces that reimagine the roles that restaurants play as tools for transformative change.

    Angela Shen’s Savory Favorites

The founder of Savor Seattle, Angela guides us through two days of exploring the hidden gems of Pike Place Market and the Central District. A typical morning for me is almost like a mini food tour: a cup of coffee from Storyville Coffee and a dozen warm, cinnamon sugar donuts from Daily Dozen. After a day of walking the family through the market, pick up a warm beef and cheese or smoked salmon piroshky from Piroshky Piroshky, and head down to the new part of the Seattle Market waterfront. For more hotels like the Inn at the Market, check out The State Hotel, The Charter Hotel Seattle, Curio Collection by Hilton, and the Mayflower Park Hotel for a similarly great experience.

    Laura Clise’s Intentional Favorites

Here is an InTENtional List of small businesses whose contributions to the community are so much more than the delicious food, products, or services for sale. Seattle’s Chinatown-International District has a deep sense of cultural legacy and history, with a mix of businesses that have been around for a hundred years and those that started last year. With a number of items preserved from the original Higo store, there’s a delicious taste of time travel along with the thoughtfully curated design aesthetic and celebration of local makers and artists. Plus, at the beginning of the pandemic, owners Tamara and Linda Di Lello Morton immediately reached out to their community with the Food is Love project, providing thousands and thousands of meals to families and kids in need.
