Getting fit with a partner can bring unexpected rewards such as quality time with your partner, improve your mood, and make it easier and more enjoyable to commit to fitness. it’s easy to find a class with a good instructor at your local gym, recreation center, or dance studio. Move It Monday is an international campaign encouraging people of all fitness levels to kick off the week with exercise.
It’s time to reward yourself for a year of physical activity and fitness challenges. Have you gotten stronger, made and achieved fitness goals, achieved a healthy weight, or done all four this year? It’s definitely time to reward yourself with modest and affordable indulgences before a new year begins. Use Monday as a way of acknowledging your accomplishments and being grateful for all that you’ve been able to achieve this year.
To keep moving on Monday, consider joining or scheduling an intramural game with your friends, family, co-workers, and other folks. There’s a surprising number of sports you can play indoors like basketball, volleyball, swimming, tennis, soccer, and dodgeball in addition to the less obvious like roller skating, Double Dutch, tai chi, and even water polo. And science says the benefits of group exercise include improved mental, emotional, and physical quality of life, and a reduction in perceived stress. Grab a soccer ball or a basketball and have a great game at the gym, community center, or college sports facility.
