A few months ago, in pursuit of better sleep and work life balance I made the decision not to use my laptop or the internet in the evening. With the brighter days (It snowed in March last year, so it might snow again, but as far as I’m concerned, spring is in gear), I’m already thinking about making the most of the longer days. Flicking back over pages of scribbled notes in last year’s diary, prompted reminders of the small things that had slipped off my radar. In the whirligig of work, life-admin and parenting, much as I want make big memories, I very much want to fill this year with small things that bring simpler joys.

Why it’s time to go to the dentist

Having pearly white teeth is one thing, but a quick trip to the dentist can also uncover more serious dental problems, including tooth decay, gum disease and more. Detection of other possible diseases Cavities and gum problems aren’t the only thing that your dentist can diagnose – thorough examinations can also expose early signs of diabetes, heart problems, vitamin deficiencies or even oral cancer. Whilst you are unlikely to book in for routine check-ups with your doctor, a bi-annual appointment with your dentist will enable them to detect a number of different diseases and refer you to your doctor for further examination. Your mouth can also be the cause of many diseases – the source of many infections have been linked with the mouth, including arthritis, respiratory problems and coronary artery disease.

Giving Time. Christmas gift ideas from Red Letter Days.

Red Letter Days got in touch and asked me to review one of their gift experiences, perfect for Christmas and a most other occasions when you are short on ideas, (to be honest, thinking of ‘ideas’ is the hardest part). A spa day is a great gift, a spa day for two is even better. Once selected and ordered via the Red Letter Day website, I received a big bold red envelope, with a gatefold card explaining exactly how to redeem my gift (a small self-congratulation, that this started as a gift for a friend and has become a something for me too). Give at Christmas and re-deem when the sunshines, with plenty of time to redeem gifts, afternoon tea when in long days of May or tour a vineyard in August when the vines are heavy with fruit.xperiences for families and kids which make for memorable alternatives to more toys or games consoles.

Store Now. Wear again Later Interiors and home

When I put clean clothes away, I’m squashing items in beside those same dresses. Organising wardrobes and drawers, is not only about storing out-of-season attire, it also gives you the opportunity to re-discover old favourites and to think about what you no longer wear. It’s worth protecting and caring for shoes that you will wear for 4 months of year and store for 8. Get years more wear by investing in clear stackable boxes  – these are particularly good for storing expensive special occasion shoes.
