Known as one of California's last "true beach towns", Pismo beach is simply RAD. Like
Now that I think of it, there should be some sort of subscription box that you sign up for and around pride month you get a "PRIDE Care Package" packed full of wrist bands that let you skip bar covers, an "I heart pussy" t-shirt (bc you have to let the world know you're a bonafide Lez), booze, and a big freaking pride flag that can double as a cape? I receive countless questions as to why I do not post an abundance super prideful pictures (wearing rainbow apparel, pictures with the flag etc.), or promote pride (insert eye roll). I don't make long inspirational posts, because I lack inspiration a lot of times, and i'm not going to have some super cool like San Francisco Pride Parade picture, because i'm probably not going ( After that, we'll probably head to some rad place to explore, and i'll spend some time reflecting on how I can serve as a vessel to make this world a more inclusive, safe, and loving place.
With 8 days notice, Karli and I packed up our entire lives, and drove across the country to start the next chapter of our lives in California! I was glad I picked up our speed because we had a 15 hour day of driving from Cleveland to Omaha. The drive to Nebraska was eye opening for a city slicker like myself, I've never seen so much space and can't imagine how people live in such remote places. After about an hour on the road on our way towards Salt Lake City, we received a call from our PR contact at the hotel we were supposed to stay at in Lake Tahoe (that was supposed to be our fourth night stop) informing us that there was a massive snow storm coming their way.
As we drove up Mirror Lake Drive towards the Inn, our first sight was extremely promising for the start of a good trip: the pride flag was hanging up right on the front of the hotel. The Golden Arrow provided us with handwarmers upon arrival which was such a sweet sentiment, especially considering all the great activities in Lake Placid are mostly outdoors! Between snowboarding, ice skating, bobsledding, and learning about the history of the Olympic Games at Lake Placid, it's safe to say we had our days filled with fun! We had some meals at the restaurants in our hotels: The View and Taste Bistro at Mirror Lake Inn and Generations at The Golden Arrow.
