Over the years I have thanked God many, many times for the way He put our family together. I’m so grateful for the children He has blessed us with but never have I been more thankful than now. Jackson turns 18 in May and all young men in Russia serve a mandatory two years in their military. While I am so grateful he is no longer there, I can’t help but think of all the other children we saw in orphanages in the five trips we made to Russia. So many precious babies and most will spend their childhood in the orphanage before aging out of their system. Life is hard for those kids. How many are now serving in Russia’s military? I think back to the babies we held while we were there and can’t help but wonder if any of them are now participating in this war. That hurts my heart so incredibly much.
