Friday's Fave Five #529

I got back at the end of last week but between major jet lag, exhaustion, a very busy but shortened work week and just trying to process everything from the trip I just haven't had a chance to post on my trip. Today we will focus on 5 blessings from the past week that we are thankful for.with jet lag and just needing to catching up on rest, I am very thankful this was a short work week. So glad I can have an extra day to catch up.my ladies group had to cancel study this week because there was a provincial election and our church is used a voting station. We came from all over Canada with different lives and backgrounds but God knit our hearts together on this trip and it's such a wonderful thing to be able to continue our relationships beyond the mission trip.

What If It's True? -a storyteller's journey with Jesus

In this book, he leaves his fiction roots and writes a very vulnerable and honest account of his journey in faith and challenges the reader to ask themselves "What if every word in the bible is true and how should I respond to that truth? " He looks at it through a storyteller's eyes and gives the character's involved a human touch with the possible emotions they might have experienced and the context that their story is in. He ends each chapter with a deep related prayer essentially asking the reader to join in the prayer making the scripture applicable to life today. The reader might not agree with some of the story telling license taken in some instances or some of the conclusions and some of the topics may get under the reader's skin but the point is that the reader should be compelled to go deeper into their own study of the word and ask themselves how it applies to them.

Friday's Fave Five #527

It's the day of the week when we intentionally take a pause to reflect back on the week and take note of the blessings that God has sent our way. Four more sleeps and this gal is on her way to Costca Rica with Samaritan's Purse for an Operation Christmas Child shoebox distribution. We received our itineraries this week and not only are we going to give those precious kids shoebox gifts, but our team will also be involved in 2 Tom's shoes distributions. If you didn't know, with every North American Tom's Shoe purchase, Tom's Shoes donates a pair of shoes to a child in a developing country.

Life After by Katie Ganshert ~ Book Review

Autumn Manning was simply living her life, coming home from work one day when a terrorist's bomb rips her train apart. Now one year later, the anniversary of the explosion is drawing close and Autumn doesn't want to go. As Autumn tries to piece her life back together, she struggles with leaving the house, with being obsessed with the people who died in the attack and with all the unanswered questions. My heart was torn for them all throughout the story and the author was able to really delve into the emotions and struggles from several angles of those who have survived something like this or to be a family dealing with with the loss of a loved one due to terrorism (or really any tragedy that claims lives due to another's actions).
