When we were Angie's age, we took countless trips together with our families to The Fort together. Nearly all of our childhood memories together are at Ft. Wilderness and going to the parks. Just texting about the trip together this week leading up to the trip we were able to drop so many inside jokes from literally 20+ years ago because this campground is So engrained into our childhoods. So when Ashley invited Angie and me to come visit for the weekend I couldn't say no! This past Wednesday my baby girl turned 3. I've been so busy with life that I haven't had time to post about it, but this past birthday with her was nothing short of perfect. This little girl is full of sass, but to me she will forever be that little 7 pound 4 ounce baby who came into the world at 7:44 on October 7, 2017. My daddy always said my lucky number would be 7, and this little girl proved that right. Self-Care Link in Bio! ⁉ What does self-care look like for you nowadays? Lately, it looks just like this for me: enjoying time on the couch when I have a few minutes to myself. ☕Unwashed, unbrushed hair, in my PJs, with no makeup, drinking cold coffee, and watching a TV show. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a HUGE advocate of self-care and taking some time to yourself. ❤️ After all, I created a blog DEDICATED to helping young women and mothers take some time to care for themselves and try new things to find a passion. 🙌 I believe that women need to be passionate about something outside of their family that is FOR THEMSELVES. It is vital to our mental health and sense of self-love that we have pride in something that is just for us. But what does that look like in the new normal we are living? Do we have time to go to new places? Are we able to check out a new farmer's market ? Can you take an hour out of your day to get out of the house and go to the gym? Is that craft store we have been wanting to check out open? These are incredibly simple things that many of us rely on to maintain our mental health, but now a lot of these outlets aren't accessible. So, what are we to do? My solution lately has been this: take a few minutes every day to just close my eyes and breathe. ⏱️ That's it. While I'm doing this, I just concentrate on my senses. What do I smell? Taste? Hear? What does it feel like for my hands to just touch nothing? What images am I able to see in my imagination? Doing these things helps me get out of my own head and grounds me to the now. Maybe discover a new hair care routine. Maybe you start putting cuticle oil on your hands routinely. Perhaps just take time to make a quick smoothie and get those vitamins in. Whatever you do, make sure it is for YOU. Not your kids; not your partner; not your house.
