Highlights
Nanaimo Bars (Allergy-Friendly and Gluten Free)

These are great to take to a potluck or party because they are dairy free, egg free, soy free, gluten free, peanut free, tree nut free, and vegan! Originally this recipe contains nuts in the bottom layer, but I used SunButter to make it tree nut free yet still give it that “nutty” essence. Melt the chocolate chips and butter using a double boiler (a bowl positioned over a pot of boiling water works well). In a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips, butter and SunButter until smooth and creamy.

SunButter Cake Icing (Top 8 Free, Gluten Free, and Vegan)

I need to squeeze in one more short post for 2016, and I wanted it to be simple (’cause I love simple), and versatile. SunButter Cake Icing is a tasty way to add a twist on a favorite cake recipe. This SunButter Icing is easy, but what I like best about it is that it is dairy free, egg free, peanut free, tree nut free, soy free, and wheat free! Frosts 9x13 cake, or fills and frosts 8 or 9-inch two-layer cake.

Mom Vs. Food Allergy

I read to my kids every day, and they love new stories. Little did I know that books would become such an important and useful part of our food allergy journey. We started with books like The Bugabees and the No Biggie Bunch, but now there’s a new character on the block and his name is HumFree! I love that this story is all about teaching kids that it’s important and easy to avoid their allergens, and how to be confident while doing so.

Have You Tried an Allergy-Friendly Hotel Room? (Guest Post)

Rachel has invited me to tell you a little bit about allergy-friendly hotel rooms, which are a great option for people traveling with allergies and asthma. The result is a superior hotel room that is more comfortable for people with asthma and environmental allergies. Our guests tell us that the air is lighter and fresher than in a standard hotel room and that they typically get a more restful, better night With nearly 300 PURE hotels nationwide, it’s easy to find an allergy-friendly hotel room just about anywhere.
