While our house does get pretty messy (four kids will do that to ya), when it’s time to clean up I insist that everything is put back in its place. How can we expect our kids to pick up if they really don’t know where their things belong? I am a fanatic about buying Rubbermaid totes and bins for every single item we own (and then I label them all, because that’s just the way I am 😉 ) Don’t forget to post a picture of your little one with your Stuff ‘n Sit on Instagram!
As a matter of fact, all the baby toys we own fit neatly inside a soft bucket in our living room. He’s a happy baby who loves simple games like that (as do most babies. I did that today with a grocery store bouquet of flowers and some upcycled baby food containers! The way the light shone through them, the vibrant colors of the flowers, and the way the petals gently swished as he shook them made them extra intriguing for our little guy
Rainy Day Art Activity (Using Toilet Paper Tubes! ) The first thing we did was pinch a couple of the toilet paper tubes (just like we did on our raindrop art activity) to make petals. Next, I added paint to a paper plate and we dipped one of the regular (non-pinched) toilet tubes into the yellow paint to make the center of a flower. They wanted to paint/print multiple flowers on their papers For using such a humble tool, these prints came out pretty fantastic! !
Before we get into my cleanup tips, let’s talk more about this AMAZING hands-on color mixing preschool project! Since I wanted to teach basic color mixing, we stuck with the primary colors and mixed them to make secondary colors (but if your kiddos already know those color combinations, by all means, do this activity by mixing primary colors and secondary colors to get tertiary colors! ). Of course, they stamped their orange hands right on the paper to show the color mixing results. Side note: you could introduce the commutative property of addition by showing that red plus yellow makes the same thing as yellow plus red (emphasizing that order does not matter in addition.
