Healing Power of Poetry: Rumi

While Shakespeare’s plays depict life in medieval England, with all its power, class systems and intrigue, Rumi’s writings speak of enduring spiritual themes that reflect a seeker’s questions on existential matters like the meaning of life, how to love and the purpose of being alive. In ‘Rumi’s World’ Annemarie Schimmel writes of the power of Rumi’s father’s “perhaps subconscious influence” on his future spiritual direction. It’s due to Sultan Walad’s writings of his father’s life story that the influences of Rumi’s father, and teachers like Shams, Salahuddin and Humasuddin, on Rumi are known. Having spent most of his 20’s and 30’s teaching theology, it is easy to see the connection between the main themes of Rumi’s writing – the concept of God as Rumi saw him, as the Beloved – and his early career.

APRIL ASTROLOGY: Pluto and Saturn Conjunct the South Node: Purification + Purging

In the webinar, I discuss how aspects to the South Node in 2019, and the necessary inner and outer transformations that they trigger, are essential preparation, individually and collectively, for the major shifts coming in 2020, and here I’m not just talking about Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn in January 2020, but more so the great mutation shift of the Saturn conjunct Jupiter cycle into the air element, which happens in December 2020 for the first time in nearly 200 years. Saturn, Pluto and the South Node: Intensity, Karma and Power Pluto will conjunct the South Node in Capricorn from March 30 – April 5 at 23 Capricorn, with the aspect becoming exact on April 4, 2019. This brings us to April 2019, when Saturn and Pluto both conjunct the South Node in the same calendar month; Pluto/South Node on April 4 and Saturn/South Node on April 30. If that’s you, I’m not going to offer you platitudes about how it’s all for the best, because no matter what comes, in the end, from the fires of purification burning through your life, you will likely have to let go of people, possibilities or plans that you were happy with or even quite attached too.

Uranus in Taurus: A Personal Surprise

I’ll preface this by saying that Uranus moving into Taurus has been especially intense and relevant for me as I have my natal Jupiter, which rules my Pisces ascendant, at 0 Leo. This means that in these early months of Uranus in Taurus, when Uranus is activating 0 Taurus, it is making a direct square to my natal Jupiter. The dates where this transit Uranus square natal Jupiter aspect are exact for me personally – and for anyone else with an important natal planet or point at 0 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius (any of the fixed signs) – include May and October 2018, as well as March 2019. Long story short, he applied, went through a very long interview process, and by late January 2019 all the details were confirmed for him to take this new role, which is in an entirely different country to one either of us have lived in before.

Jupiter: The Lucky Planet

The symbolism of Jupiter living out there and upwards is felt through the way Jupiter’s influence in your life constantly draws you onwards and upwards – onto greener pastures, into new adventures and always encouraging the search for what’s around the next corner. Jupiter is associated with truth and justice and when this planet is triggered in your chart or life you will find it’s imperative to act in line with your ethical beliefs. Sagittarians have Jupiter combined with the element of fire and as such may more obviously champion Jupiter’s desire for justice, equality and truth in the world, though scratch the surface of a Piscean and you will find in their own inspired, creative water influenced way, many Pisceans are doing much the same (fire is extroverted; water is introverted). You’ll find them promoting the importance of a playful life.
