Why a Stay-at-Home Parent Needs Life Insurance

To estimate the cost of replacing a stay-at-home parent’s contributions: Add up how much it would cost to pay others to perform the household services performed by the stay-at-home parent that will not be assumed by the surviving parent. This provides up to $100,000 in life insurance coverage to a spouse for a low cost while their partner is in the military. After you do the math, $100,000 of life insurance coverage is unlikely to be enough given a stay-at-home parent’s contributions to the household. Term life insurance is generally the best option for a stay-at-home parent because there is a time limit on their biggest contribution: childcare.

Why You Should Buy Life Insurance When You Are Young

The younger you are, the more likely you are to have some sort of debt, whether it’s student loan debt, credit card debt, or debt related to car payments or a mortgage. The value of your estate will be used to settle any outstanding debt after your death, but if your net worth is not enough, your beneficiary may be responsible for mortgage or apartment rental payments, your parents (or another cosigner) may have to handle your student loans, and your spouse may have to pay off your credit card debt. Getting life insurance while you are young will give you the peace of mind that comes with knowing your loved ones are protected in the event of your death. * Further benefits of choosing certain types of permanent policies: Obtaining coverage while you are young will guarantee that your premiums are the lowest they ever will be and, should you need money in the future, Navy Mutual’s Flagship Whole Life allows you to take out a low-interest loan against your policy.

What Happens to Email Accounts When Someone Dies

By planning for your own passing, you can ensure that your loved ones know what to do with your email accounts (and your social media accounts) after you are gone. You must be an immediate family member or a legal representative of the deceased for Google to consider your request, be able to furnish a copy of their death certificate, and provide proof that you received an email from the Gmail account in question. Yahoo will not release passwords to the email accounts of deceased individuals, but they do have a process in place for loved ones to request the permanent closure and deletion of an account. You must create a written request asking for the closure of the account and listing your loved one’s Yahoo ID and enclose both a copy of their death certificate and a copy of a document that states that you are the executor of their estate or a personal representative of the deceased.

That Remote Assignment Isn’t So Bad

The place where its an ROTC gig, recruiting job, or at a small installation like Camp Atterbury, Camp Shelby or even Red River Army depot where there is only a handful of active-duty folks. Instead of my husband leaving at 0530 and not getting home until after 7pm during his key development time for his position, we enjoyed the more normal 8-5 time frame. We were able to plan summer trips, vacations, and family visits easily knowing that we wouldn’t need to cancel anything. After multiple back to back deployments of birthdays, holidays and special moments missed we were able to celebrate a few years of celebrating those special days actually on the day!
