EL ZAPATON 2020 SAN YSIDRO HEALTH’S DRIVE-THRU NEW SHOE DISTRIBUTION FOR SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN.

This time, the leading service-disabled veteran-owned company has celebrated the Year-End and New Year with proactive participation in the San Ysidro Health’s charity program El Zapaton “Shoe-A-Thon” 2020. Founded by Rafael Garcia, a committed member of SYH’s Philanthropy Leadership Council, the El Zapaton “Shoe-A-Thon” is a drive-thru new shoe distribution program that provides new shoes as well as school-bags and other necessary items to the underprivileged children of the community. It’s to stress here, added to being a dedicated volunteer of SYH’s Philanthropy Leadership Council, Mr. Garcia is also an eminent member of the CoronadoDC team, one of the major sponsors of El Zapaton 2020. We are especially thrilled because the program gave us this opportunity to do something for the kids of our frontline workers- the true heroes in the current pandemic times”, noted DeNee Logan, the furniture program director of CoronadoDC.

In the meantime, we need to get smarter about reducing the embodied carbon in concrete structures, which can typically be accomplished by reducing the mass of structural systems (which also saves money) and variable cement mixes. For instance, Texas Medical Center leveraged germ-killing robots to fight coronavirus, and robots were used to deliver meals and medication to COVID-19 patients in Singapore to reduce exposure of healthcare workers. Read more—Kimberly Lamb, executive director, healthcare solutions, JLL (Chicago) Resilience must stretch beyond hospitals Our ability to successfully handle our next health-related crisis will depend in large part on the adaptable designs of buildings not principally designed for healthcare needs.
