I REALLY want to teach him about Palm Oil, but I think it may be too soon. But this little ape is a little reminder for me to remember to shop for products with no palm oil. One of the best ways to achieve this is switching your shampoo to one that is free from palm oil. Did you know, the production of palm oil is supposedly responsible for 10% of total greenhouse gas emissions and the loss of at least 100,000 critically endangered Bornean Orangutans.
All KiteNest Products are 100% natural, individually crafted (small batch) and handmade in Lincolnshire by Chris and Markus. They are passionate about creating high quality natural products which never compromise on design or performance, hence our moto – Natural Creations Without Compromise. and I decided that a small, local company, creating an honest, natural product, and trying to source an alternative lid for this coming year, is by far more important right now than solely focussing on no plastic. So you are right, my website is largely focused on cutting back on our reliance on plastic, but it is more so finding ethical and sustainable alternatives to help you lead that zero waste life.
If we don’t all take drastic action our oceans will have more plastic than fish in them by 2050 and as it is we’re all drinking microplastics in our water, shedding microplastics as we wash synthetic clothes. It boggles my mind that for the last 50 years we’ve all been using a material that literally never rots for single use consumption, often for drinks and food we consume in minutes. I’ve been a travel journalist and magazine editor for years and it was only in the last 3 or 4 years that I became more and more aware of plastic pollution on beautiful beaches, felt guilty about my carbon footprint, my food miles, my plastic habit, which lead me down a path learning about our plastic pollution, carbon pollution and so on which ended up me launching pebble to try and inspire people to consume more consciously – and make it desirable to do so. What single item would you encourage listeners to cut back on, in their journey to zero-plastic-waste?
Not so long ago a majority of the public became aware that we were putting plastic into our cups of tea. For those who don’t want to wait until the end of the year to stop putting plastics into the tea, I’ve found a pretty great guide for whether tea bags have plastic in them or not. And Pukka and Teapigs are winners for plastic free tea 🙌🏻 Aldi’s premium and Waitrose’s With Frank Green products incorporating a Tea strainer for all you smashing the zero-tea-bag-waste way 👊🏻
