Chow Down USA is a blog about food, fashion and lifestyle in Boston - with some sprinkles of San Francisco thrown in!
It’s mainly residential with locals, aside from a touristy town center by the ferry dock, but when you get outside of that area you can find stunning beachside houses to rent for a few days. The inside of the main house has a spiral staircase in the middle, just like a seashell, and the living room area on the first floor has a spiraling lounge area as well. It’s the perfect getaway because you feel like you’re living in another world! The house has little geckos but those are cute, and you have to be extra careful with your trash to keep ants away from the kitchen, but other than that it’s really clean and a great place to stay.
If you saw my recent post on our stay at Calabash Cove, you may have some questions on what to pack for St. Lucia! When using this card to withdraw, all ATM fees, EVEN international ones (which are usually super high because they know you’re stuck paying them), are completely refunded. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a gorgeous island, from the warm beaches, palm trees, 50+ types of mangoes, plenty of water activities, and striking piton mountains in the landscape. My top suggestions for St. Lucia include extra strength DEET, suncreen, aloe, more swimsuits than other clothes, a couple sundresses, a lightweight top, and seriously – the Needham Bank Debit Card!
St. Lucia all inclusive vacation packages are amazing because you can’t really prepare for how beautiful the island is, from its aqua waters, to the warm Carribean Sea, to lush palm trees and stunning mountains (known as pitons). Due to the St. Lucia location in the Carribean, the sun here is much stronger than we’re used to in the states, so be careful to reapply your sunscreen and cover up when possible! It’s as clear as water why this is one of the top resorts in St. Lucia! Carribean spa resorts are the epitome of paradise, from the private pool & cottages, to the main infiniti pool, to the beach itself.
Since posting on Instagram featuring my favorite shots from our visit, I’ve gotten a lot of questions about what it’s really like in these places, so I thought I’d make a Happy Place review with my real thoughts on them. It was clear that there were only a couple of rooms that really worked, especially if you’re adept at editing your photos after-the-fact, but the majority of the settings wouldn’t really work for high-quality shots on a curated instagram feed. One plus in this Happy Place review: It was pretty cool that there was a girl there who’s sole job was to help us come up with poses and remind us where to look and how to interact with this room – since it’s confusing once you’re in there to figure out how it will work once the photo is turned upside-down! I personally feel like these places could benefit from being more robust, with higher-quality backdrops and props that are clean – and most importantly good lighting (which any photographer or influencer will tell you is KEY to good photos)!
