Hello, I’m Sara. Welcome! Come and join me for stories about family life and motherhood, alongside tales of our expat life.
Life in a pandemic is hard (as if that needs to be said), and although it hasn’t been all bad for us, there have been some good life and pace changes, it’s not helpful to ignore how difficult and stressful and emotionally grueling it is. I know that we need to try and find moments of clarity in the chaos and uncertainty of life with Covid, as lockdowns ease, then tighten again, on repeat. And while I understand the safety concerns, and I am by nature risk averse, and certainly not reckless, I want my kids to be able to walk back into those buildings as soon as it’s safe to do so. I worry for their education (although, to be honest , that is the least of my worries right now), I worry about their mental health, I worry about their social-emotional well being.
Regularly updating it, creating content, adding stories. How do we balance the demands of school and work and home (and whatever else we’re dealing with) and still take the time to be present in this unprecedented moment. Will I ever sleep properly again, or find toilet paper in the store…. Or maybe just create some new content, write some new stories.
I’m not sure yet what that means for 2019, but I’m certainly not planning on giving up my little corner of the internet yet. A combination of being back at work and some very early morning swim meets has meant that I have seen more sunrises this year than I can remember seeing for some time! We’ve been enjoying a lovely break over Christmas, making the most of the fact that it hasn’t snowed (well, it did try one day, but nothing came of it! ) and spending lovely, quiet, fun time together. I began writing ‘Snapshots’ posts last summer, when my days were too busy having fun with my kids to spend time writing about the fun we were having.
I’m loving my new job, but it’s safe to say that our new normal is a little chaotic so far! Working three mornings a week has been quite a big change to our routine, and most of the month has been spent trying to stay on top of things in far fewer hours than I’m used to! The laundry pile is a mountain, and we’ve eaten a lot of pasta! I began writing ‘Snapshots’ posts last summer, when my days were too busy having fun with my kids to spend time writing about the fun we were having.
