Check Out Final -ck

One of the hardest phonics lessons I teach in Kindergarten is the final -ck sound. One of my goals is to connect the phonics sound by connecting the phonics skill to works they are familiar with. Once we teach about our -ck sound, I like to give my students some word work to think through. Now, I use these little pond words for students to sound out and word.

Engaging Moments in ELA

How about using these fun Construction Bolts from Learning Resources to make and read real and nonsense words? Examples of Engaging Moments in Math

Instead, you will see tried and true FUN learning activities my students love year after year. I can look around my room to see ALL my students building their math skills on their level, interacting with others, and having fun all at the same time. Now that you have seen some examples of ways I make my activities and lesson plans for math more engaging… what ideas can you use in your classroom?

One Engaging Moment Every Day

I needed one moment to be engaging for my students to remember and one moment to be engaging for me to remember. My students didn’t want to miss a day of school, even when they were sick. Students actually tell me that they didn’t want to leave school because they didn’t know what would happen next My students’ engagement went up and I looked forward to these moments then their engagement moments went up and they looked forward to these moments.
