What comes to mind when you think of a luxury hotel? Silver service? Glittering chandeliers? A Michelin-star restaurant? Well, all these things are lovely of course… but isn’t wonderful to travel thousands of miles and arrive somewhere that makes you feel right at home? That’s where Ett Hem in Stockholm is rather different to most hotels – the name even means A Home in Swedish. Ett Hem had been on my hotel wish list for years and seemed the perfect place to stay for my first time in Stockholm

As both are owned by Soho House, you know you’ll receive the signature service that’s absolutely top-level whilst still being relaxed and informal, making you feel right at home. The ideal choice because Babington House is only a forty-five minute drive from my friend’s Theresa’s Bristol home and therefore the perfect place for us to meet. There are 33 rooms split between the main manor house and the coach house (which lies a few step away from the main house) as well as a cabin by the lake and the lodge house which is a self-contained cottage. Like many of the hotels in the Soho House Group, Babington House has a Cowshed Spa which includes a treatment area for relaxing and a gym for er… not relaxing.

This month as part of our travel link up on ‘habits’ I want to look at how I specifically changed my travel habits since becoming so bloody obsessed with Instagram! I am a dedicated foodie so I will always choose where to eat based on how good the food is… but if the restaurant is pretty or has a great view well that doesn’t hurt either as it’ll look great on Instagram! I’ve seen people ranting on Twitter about other people who go to destinations just to get the one picture but personally I don’t see anything wrong with going somewhere just cos you want a pretty picture, and if you want to be in that picture, well you’re not doing anyone any harm! I’m very lucky to have made close friends on the Internet and my Instagram and blog have introduced me to new friends and people to travel with who have the same interests as me.
