And since the basement doesn’t have a bedroom (our guest space is in the barn), it’s just not something we think we would use. So instead of a tub, we are going to install closet space along the wall where the tub would have been.
Store away all the holiday decor and supplies – and purge anything you didn’t use. Also – I like to use the slower time in January to purge any holiday supplies you don’t use anymore. I don’t do a full-on deep clean in January, but after all the Christmas decor comes down, our home definitely needed some attention. Getting your home in a good spot in January is a great way to ready yourself for what is to come.
If you’ve been around for any length of time, you know that I love decorating my son’s room for Christmas. Henry positively LIGHTS UP when he’s talking about his room and tree. He added the pennant he made in front of the tree because he thought it would be a good reminder to Lucy to keep away. And when someone visits the house, the first place he takes them is to his room to see his tree.
Our living room really looks a lot different than the last time I shared it here. We got a new-to-us sofa, pulled up a chair from the basement, and added curtains and a new ticking stripe chair. For the time being, the curtains fill a lot of the wall space and I didn’t want it to feel too busy. But while the room feels different, I don’t think it feels empty by any means.
