Hydroplaning – or aquaplaning – happens when your tires lose contact with the road surface because a layer of water gets between the road and your tires. When water is pooling on the road surface it can cause the tires of your vehicle to float or surf on top of the water, thus causing a loss of traction. This means the tread of the tire can’t move the water out of the way quickly enough to help you maintain traction with the road surface. Check your tires in more places than one to ensure you have even wear patterns and have a minimum of 1/16th of an inch or 1.5 mm for the rear tires and 1/8th of an inch or 3 mm on the front tires.
You have contacted your insurance company, started your insurance claim, and you have just been allowed re-entry to your home to evaluate the damage and rescue any valuables that could be stolen or further damaged by the elements if left in place. A property claims adjuster will tour your home, and it is to your benefit that you guide them and make sure they see the full extent of the damage done. Once you have evaluated the damage to your home, the next step is to evaluate the damage done to your personal property. Fires and floods can cause extensive damage to your personal belongings, but your home insurance likely provides coverage for property including clothing, linens, furniture, appliances, electronics, food, and valuables like jewelry or artwork.
We trust our kids but parents often need to keep being a parent until their newly licensed kids can make logical, responsible decisions, especially when driving safely is concerned. I came across Not Your Child Corp. which provides assistance for parents by providing a breathalyzer, GPS & auto locking technologies all in one. I was a teen when I first learned to drive and although I had good friends who made safe decisions most of the time, I was still a teen and paused to think about the tempting situations I was put in. The breathalyzer from Not Your Child Corp. detects any impairment after the driver provides a breath sample and works with the interlock system to block the ignition from starting.
