I’ve learned these years that people can have a lot of money, yet not feel abundant. I’ve learned that sometimes appearances are not exactly what they look like. I’ve learned that someone can be really pretty, but without a dope soul and a dope character, they look incredibly repelling. I’ve learned that being by yourself can be infinitely happier than being in toxic situations/environments or around people who make you feel insecure.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner but – as much as I love you, dudes – this year I’m going to focus on Galentine’s Day and celebrating the awesome girl friends in our lives instead. It doesn’t mean I have anything against Valentine’s Day! But I want to focus on Galentine’s because Valentine’s can be a difficult day especially for women.

For the cringy moments, and the cheesy moments, the moments you f*ck up really bad and all you can do is look at yourself and laugh at how big of a mess you are. For all those moments when you fell 7 times but needed to get back up 8. For all those moments when curiosity and adventure led you to unbeaten paths. For those moments when the walls were too high but if you couldn’t break them, you decided to climb them instead.

The lyrics from a song by PlanBe were echoing in the distance while I was watching the Sun casting its golden light on the tall, almost endless, palm trees in the sunset. I was strutting in the middle of the street pretending it was a runway without a care in the world. The shadows were softer and with a little focus adjustments the uglier parts could get blurred away. Just how verses of the song were completely lost in translation, some of my worries and anxieties sounded funny and unjustified in the face of such invincible force of nature.
