While in Memphis, I got to wear a design (ripped straight from the runway) by one of the featured designers–Richard Cotto of R. Gene. This line is filled with fashion-forward, subtly sexy pieces that are gender neutral. No surprise, I was drawn to the beautiful yellow pieces throughout the R. Gene line. The R. Gene dress is a long, wrap dress with a super high slit to show of the legs.
I had a unique opportunity to experience Memphis Fashion Week, a well-established set of events that showcases the best work by Memphis and regional designers. This year’s Memphis Fashion Week featured 7 super talented designers–Jodi Brewer, Tanganika by Tangie, Demi BLVCK Designs Memphis Fashion Week’s Emerging Memphis Designer Project (EMDP) is a program that strives to develop emerging designers and give them a platform to showcase their work. One of my favorite items in the rollout is actually a coordinated set–striped shirt and striped wide leg pants. To add a little flavor to the set, I layered the shirt over a striking blue tube top. By the way, I’m wearing the chambray stripes, but you’ve gotta see the pink stripes (see the top here and pants here. For size reference, I’m wearing tboth the shirt and pants in size small.
Leaning on reviews, though, I’ve been exploring some super affordable summer basics available at Amazon. Items like rompers, for example, would be such good buys at the retailer’s low prices. I’m styling a romper find, and I’ve rounded up several others with similarly glowing reviews. I’m fond of styles like this romper because they can be so versatile during the summer.
