The Saint-Roch YMCA is now in charge of the Victoria Tennis Club in Quebec City

The Saint-Roch YMCA is pleased to partner with the City of Québec to continue offering tennis at Parc Victoria! The Saint-Roch YMCA recently took over the management of the Victoria Tennis Club and is excited to announce that Louis Lemieux has been recruited to coordinate the club's activities, in collaboration with the YMCA team and its volunteers. The new Saint-Roch YMCA is a community and sports centre now under construction and will be opening in the spring of 2020 on the former Charest Cinema site. This summer, the Saint-Roch YMCA, along with the Victoria Tennis Club, is pleased to increase its current offer of services that is available to the public through the community office located on Parvis Street.

Learning how to move is just as important as learning how to read or write. Physical literacy is about helping youth to develop their basic motor skills so they will gain the confidance, motivation and knowledge they need to The ParticipACTION Report Cards on Physical Activity for Youth are very clear: Obesity is expected to be the pandemic  of the 21st century and children are now suffering from diseases once reserved for adults (high cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension). Physical Literacy Gives Our Kids a Strong Advantage

In keeping with our mission of helping children, youth and families live healthy and active lives, the Y is proud to bring this physical literacy program to its summer camps and soon to its youth programming. Physical literacy is not only about increasing physical skills, but also about deepening children's confidence, motivation, understanding and knowledge so that they develop the desire to be physically active from an early age. It means exploring various basic movements through play and discussing the importance of adopting an active lifestyle. Variation of the program for Camp YMCA Kanawana and development of inclusive physical literacy Deployment in all centres and sustainability of the project Application of policies favouring the practice of physical activity Education about the importance of a physically active lifestyle
