An easy and healthy recipe for spicy peanut tempeh, marinaded for a few hours, then baked and ready to eat! So a few weeks ago when I was at a restaurant that offered tempeh Buddha Bowls that came drizzled with a spicy peanut sauce, I knew I had to have it. This spicy peanut tempeh sauce is made up of so many delicious ingredients like peanut butter (duh! ), soy sauce to bring some salty flavor, sriracha for a little heat, maple syrup for a little sweetness, lime for the perfect acid, and ginger + sesame oil for those extra Asian flavors. All you need to do is combine all of your sauce ingredients into a bowl, chop up tempeh (pre-steamed) into whatever shape you desire (I did triangles here) and add the tempeh to the bowl, making sure it is completely coated.
I’m not actually plant based myself, but I’ve been obsessed with tempeh ever since I tried it a few years ago. It’s so much nuttier and holds sauces and marinades a lot better, plus it is incredibly versatile and can be baked, pan fried, crumbled into a meat like substitute, which is exactly what we did with these tempeh tacos. Then, we threw on our epic homemade taco seasoning, threw it in a pan and added it to our taco spread! I like to prepare a spread of sliced avocado (or guacamole! ), black beans or refried beans, salsa, shredded cheese, Greek yogurt for sour cream, and fresh cilantro!
Easy BBQ Baked Tempeh is an easy way to prepare and cook this delicious protein. and so I’ve started saving a little draft in my phone that has all of the ways that I prepare it so I can quickly send it over when someone inevitably asks. Then you combine all of the ingredients for the homemade bbq sauce into a bowl, spread it into the bottom of a baking dish, slice your tempeh and place on top, and then cover with more bbq sauce. I’ll never say no to a good bbq stir fry, so I thought by adding them tempeh to this bowl that it would be delicious.
