Delicious & Easy Home-Baked Bread

Here's what you need: Cast iron round Dutch oven (try a brand such as a Le Creuset) Cornmeal, sesame seeds, or flour for dusting (I typically just use flour) STEP 1 In a large bowl combine flour, yeast and salt. * Dough will look like the images below... STEP 2 Lightly flour a work surface and place dough on it. Gently and firmly shape your dough into a ball and then coat a cotton cloth with flour, corn meal or sesame seeds. *Bread will look like the images below after this step... STEP 4 Remove the lid and bake for another 15 to 30 minutes until the loaf is beautifully browned.

Target 'Dollar Bin' Herb Garden

For me, a full-blown garden this summer seems like it may be out of the question (stay tuned) but a simple little herb garden seemed feasible thanks to the help of Target's dollar-bin. If you have about 20 minutes and $10-15 then I have the perfect little garden project for you. Everything pictured below was found in the Target dollar-bins (my favorite little bins on this planet) with the exception of the planting cups and soil (those were in the outdoor section of Target). I purchased the herb labels and stands, an adorable little "grow" sign (sign was $3 and other items were $1/each) and a already had the handled wooden box around my house. Lastly, I used a livestock feeding pan that I bought from Tractor Supply last summer and placed the herb garden box in there so that it could hold any water that spills out.

The transitional tablescape

A time to put away all of the "clutter" (mentally and physically) that can accompany the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and focus on the peace and clarity that comes with those late winter months. The mix of whites, pewter and peat moss is stunning and simple. A timeless look that is perfect for those late winter months and will look great in any home and on any table . Now that I've shared some of my favorite and most inspirational looks, I wanted to show you how easy it can be to get the look on your own!

Meet 'Vera Lyn'...

I recently learned that the school district I work for (in the role of Assistant Principal) would support the idea of a therapy/social service dog at our high school. It's not as though I needed to add another thing to my already overloaded plate of life, but I gladly took on this opportunity and within just two weeks I had located, purchased and welcomed Vera into our home. We worked closely with breeder Kim Ortiz from Orchard Pups near Rochester, NY to determine which puppy would make the most sense (disposition-wise) to do therapy work. She must be a minimum of one year of age before taking the Therapy Dogs International (TDI) certification test so until then we will be in lots of classes and gradually introducing her into the school community.
