The cover of this book really intrigued me – especially because when I bought it I was in the midst of my teal/copper obsession. My friend Sophie who doesn’t read very much was part way through and hooked, so I bought it on her recommendation
I’ve had my eye on this book since it came out in hardback last year; I preferred the other cover, but this one is more relevant to the story. I love reading about addiction, mental health issues, retreats and rehabs
This book was my book club’s pick for March, and I heard good things about it, so I was quite looking forward to a kind of real life ‘Bridget Jones of the noughties’. A spot-on, wildly funny and sometimes heart-breaking book about growing up, growing older and navigating all kinds of love along the way When it comes to the trials and triumphs of becoming a grown up, journalist and former Sunday Times dating columnist Dolly Alderton has seen and tried it all
The book is narrated by Violet, who was a student at the time, reflecting on the night of the girl’s death from the present day. Violet is invited to join a secret study group, led by Annabel, and befriends the other members: Robin, Grace, and Alex. When the body of Robin’s former best friend is found on campus, nine months after she went missing, Violet doesn’t know who to trust any more. If you like books about boarding schools, cults or the occult I recommend reading this, and I can’t wait for the author’s next book.
