It was an impromptu idea to visit Kashmir, Gurez Valley to be precise, with no set dates in mind. I did my bare minimum research (there isn’t much about Gurez on the internet anyway), and knew it in my mind that this is where I shall head to soon. Two days later, I get another message from him, this time telling me that he is planning to organize a trip to Gurez and if I would like to join. A 6-hour drive from Srinagar crossing some scenic roads, valleys, meadows and the Razdan pass, with the Krishnaganga river flowing beside, we reach Gurez.

Just because you’re spending your day sitting at a desk, going to meetings, and counting down the minutes until 5pm, doesn’t mean you can’t look super stylish. Have a play around with different styles of heels — for example, court shoes are making a big come back — or use them to inject a pop of colour into an outfit. A tailored longline blazer with cigarette pants and a neutral blouse (plus some heels of course! ) is a really easy look to put together, but will make you feel, and look, as though you really have things together — the perfect outfit for asking for that raise! If you don’t want to buy a whole new wardrobe, investing in some statement jewellery, bags, or scarves, alongside some versatile neutrals, is a great way of making it look like you’re wearing something different every day when you’re really just mixing up the way you style something.

However, for something even more special, 1 Cover recommends straying a little from the popular areas where you will find beautiful untouched landscapes, small villages to explore and stunning beaches with no one else around! Built on water, take a romantic gondola ride to explore the various museums, churches and a palaces, and stop off at Saint Mark’s Basilica and Gallerie dell’Accademia to soak up the culture. Alternate visiting the museums and churches with delicious meals at many of the wonderful bars and restaurants and a little bit of shopping in the quirky craft stores – this is a real delight for all the senses! Huge skyscrapers and incredible shopping is what this city is all about, from boutiques to designer outlets to high street shops, make sure you bring plenty of money on this trip!
