When I think about the holidays, I usually think of big gatherings with family and friends, holiday parties, and big Cape Breton family dinners with crowded kitchens full of laughter. This is great because my toddler has no concept of what’s going on in the ‘grown-up world’ and is pretty excited about the big guy coming to visit and bring presents this weekend. Grab a new book or an old favourite and curl up with a hot drink With the holidays being quieter this year, take the opportunity to sit back relax and dive into a new or favourite book, and forget about the outside world. We’re planning lots and lots of Facetime and Zoom calls this weekend to connect with our family & friends over dinner, snacks, drinks and treats, so you can still enjoy the connection this holiday normally brings.
That question turned into this blog post which helped me and many of my followers to have a delicious Christmas morning: Christmas Morning Casseroles As I was struggling for ideas this holiday season, you can bet that I reached out to my friends at ECM once again to see what ideas and suggestions they had for meals, snacks and desserts that they enjoy over the holidays! Thanks to East Coast Mommy Blog for the famous nacho dip recipe Delicious on a Dime’s turkey cranberry cream cheese sandwich sounds and looks amazing! Monica also had this easy recipe for you to try this weekend: How to Make Peanut Butter Balls Want to pretend you are travelling around the world this holiday season?
Even though the market is looking a little bit different this year it is still open Wednesday-Sunday (Limited hours) and still includes many of my favourite vendors! The holiday season is particularly fun to visit the market with all the decor, the jams/jellies, local spirits, wines and beers and the atmosphere. In the Maritimes has contemporary high-quality products ranging from: pottery, fine art, art prints, textiles, cards and paper products, photography, housewares, small furniture, and so much more! , they carry a hand-picked selection of home decor items, jewelry and accessories, paper goods, items for children and babies, and locally made confections.
Things are a little quieter, parties are via FaceTime instead of in person, and it’s a challenge to come up with ways for the holidays to still be special for our 3-year-old. Last year I discovered that 2 of my favourite bloggers—Jenna from There’s a Shoe For That and Rebecca from Bit Of Mom Sense—had started 2 traditions I wanted to add to our family each year. Jenna had created The Kindness Calendar For Kids and Rebecca created the 2019 Activity Advent Calendar. With a variable schedule and everything 2020, we’re not assigning a particular day to each, but crossing one activity off per day as it fits in our schedules.
