Who are the Five Adventurers? Day 36 – Rain and illness is much more bearable in the Maldives For those who have been following along our adventures on Facebook are aware that I was taken ill in Sri Lanka and even though we have continued with our adventure I am unfortunately not feeling so great. As the resort is located 40 minutes sea plane flight from Male it is imperative to ensure you have the correct level of medical facilities available. We had a busy day of lots of swimming so really should have planned for an early dinner but hindsight is a great thing. Lots of the food, especially the sea food has been caught fresh on the day and the king prawn dish and tuna steak we ordered tasted amazing.
What a day, when we thought the Maldives couldn’t get anymore beautiful we arrived at the Adaaran Vadoo for the reminder of our stay in this amazingly beautiful country and have been totally blown away. The resort only has ocean villas which means there is a staircase from each villa to the ocean. The island is much smaller than the last island and means that everything is much closer. Overall, I have been really impressed with Vadoo island and it a truly beautiful, idyllic small island which packs in so much into such a small island.
After travelling with our little adventurers over the last few years I have started to prefer resorts and hotels which offer something different to families, I have found that all hotels cater for families and often those which may not be labelled as being family friendly are better choices. It is like a true paradise escape This morning we spent snorkelling both on the sea near our villa and also the pier, the later which was literally schools and schools of fish. The little Adventurers were super brave and dived into the sea and some of my favourite pictures will be of our boy Adventurers jumping off the pier Tonight we went to feed some fish at 9:30pm and even before we saw the fish feeding it was a truly wonderful sight, there was stingrays the size of the little adventurers swimming around and so many fish out in the sea.
Huskies are another animal which I will always associate with Lapland and snow, but whereas reindeers conjure up the idea of calm and relaxing, huskies instantly conjures the image of speed and an adrenaline rush. My little adventurers thought going on a husky ride in the snow was so much fun, Maya is an adrenaline junkie and having the wind blowing in your face she thought it was both exhilarating and a little scary. We did have a try of ice fishing and even though we didn’t manage to catch anything (I think my children just wanted to say hi and send them back their families) During our reindeer ride, we went into the middle of the Lappish countryside at night and with no light pollution, as you lay in the sleigh you were treated to a view of a sky filled with thousands of stars.
